I'm pretty sure it will move some hardware, but come on.. it will never break a million in its first week, let's be realistic here.

let's bet. I bet Fable2 will sell more than 700k next week worldwide according to VGC.
and the 350k at launch aren't VGC data, I think. |
yes 350k is Vgchartz data
when NPD and GFK comes in then u will see it to be around 500k max
there is no way Fable 2 will reach 1m in sales worldwide since it got 8/10 from most european reviewers
also IGN's 8.8 will severely affect sales
so u have 600k max worldwide for the first week
MAX = 600k

200k first week in Europe. Haha, crazy this was game made by Europeans for Europeans hence the 10 from Eurogamer and 9.5 from IGN UK. It is tripple A to the core and considering all the reviews are yet to be in an 89 at this point doesn't really mean much at all besides it being a very good game indeed. |
europe and x360??
something doesnt match. even PES 09 couldnt sell 200k on x360 in europe . what makes u think Fable 2 will
fable 2 got 8 from gamereactor/gamekult/gamer.nl/ptgamers/level7 and most eu reviewers
It is not a big game in europe .plus europeans dont like x360 except the British

350 k first day in america

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.
I don't see how it's possible that a game such as Fable 2 could sell 350,000 copies on Day-1 for North America, and then fail to sell half of that the entire week in Europe.
Go look at any X360 game in the past year: sales are pretty predictable. First-week sales are usually around 45-50% of what NA sales, except for overly American titles (Madden) or uber-sellers that the European fanbase just can't support (Halo 3).
Should Fable 2 hit 700,000 this week in North America (which is very likely, if not a lock), it would be an absolute shock if Fable 2 sold under 300,000 units in Europe. Again, sales data backs this up.
Here are the ranges for sales for Fable 2, on first week:
North America: 600,000-850,000
Europe/PAL: 250,000-450,000
Japan: 15,000-50,000
Total: 865,000-1,350,000 first week (including Japan)
Pick your poison on that end. Fable 2 has already entered the "best days ever" list on 360voice.com - It's now the 10th biggest game/day in the history of 360voice. And thats WITHOUT Europe or Japan. That's HUGE.
As for hardware - I think it's hard to say, but I'm leaning toward Fable 2 having a positive effect.
The advantages that F2 brings to the table are:
1) Under-represented genre
2) Massive sales in said under-represented genre
3) Highly rated
4) Sequel to an Xbox game
You can look at it from a variety of angles. It has the unique fact that it's going to be a massive debut for a WRPG of all things, which is amazing. Because of that, I tend to think that somewhere along the line, it'll bring in the last few Xbox gamers that haven't made the switch.
Now, how much that is - I don't know. I'd venture to think that it'll give the X360 a small boost this coming week - maybe 10,000-15,000 units according to VGC, but sell very well, and be a deciding factor in new purchasers around Christmas.
I do agree with the concept of diminishing returns for exclusives. It's pretty much proven to happen, especially with a console that's 3 years old, and sold over 20m units. However, I do think that having yet another certifiable blockbuster (in both game sales and reviews) could make it deciding factor, sub-consciously, for many users. Those values can't be extrapolated, but are very important.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Firstly these are Vgchartz numbers not NPD Secondly Fable 2 will be a hit only in USA not europe/Japan Thirdly , It is not an AAA --89% at metacritic Please dont post weird assumptions every time You will have to wait for NPD for US sales For Europe sales Fable 2 wont even reach 200k 1st week |
First, we're on the site, VGChartz...
Second, Fable 2 has yet to launch in Japan. When it does launch in japan, it'll probably pass a million according to this site.
Third, he never said it was AAA, but for the record, all the reviews aren't in, and what makes a game "AAA" isn't nor shall ever be official.
Please stop hating on Fable 2 because you're a Sony fan...
We will check out US NPD sales, but they won't tell us worldwide numbers for the game.
For "Others" we'll see. Europe...that's just a part of Others.

Sony is known as a console for soccer games, like the 360 is known for shooters. Also there is gonna be a PES bundle for the 360 in Europe tomorrow, did you take that into account?

It's got a 10 from Eurogamer and a 9 from Edge. Those are by far your two most respected review sources, unless you count IGNUK, where it got a 9.5. (gamereactor/gamekult/gamer.nl/ptgamers/level7) are B-C level sites, and aren't even all averaged on some aggregate review sites. Even then, 8 is a great score, especially when it's not really 8/10, it's 4/5, which gives them much less room to choose between great and perfect.
You're just trying to marginalize the game because you hope it doesn't do well and hurt your prescious Playstation 3. Obviously. Is it strange that I am mean to "people" like this? Do you want to keep posting?
