Forums - Sony Discussion - LBP and Controversy

The problem though, is what does it mean for User Generated Content now that they've removed the song?  Does any UGC that references the Koran get banned as well?  Does the same go for other religions?

I don't know the specifics of the 911 level, or if it was removed, but I'm sure that many people, especially the families of the victims, would be offended by that.  Should that be removed as well?

Would a level where you save Jesus be offensive to Jewish people?  Should that be removed also?

What about content that is never shared, so doesn't have a chance to be banned?  What happens when a mother sees her 10 year old playing a giant penis level that he/she created?

The point is, we've seen how the media handles video games.  They're the first thing blamed anytime something goes wrong.  Look at Mass Effect this year, Doom during Columbine, GTA:SA.  The last 2 were crucified by the media because of mods.  Is LBP going to end up with the same problems?

I hope not seince LPB is a great attempt to coraden the gaming market with a kid friendly game that appeals to adults as wel.  All other games mentioned were rated M, and LBP is rated E t wil be a much harder sell to through it under the byus

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

I think this was deliberate. I mean, they developed the game. They would have checked the game over a million times before release. How do you suddenly realise you've put in something offensive as it releases? I think they put it in only to be able to recall it on release. There's nothing like a bit of controversy to sell games - San Andreas sold 17 million and that game was effectively banned for a while.

Kill Mohammad? A level where you buy Mohammad an icecream code would be over the line. (for their religion.)

only if you show his face. or have something not human with mohammad's name. Though I'm not sure sackboy would qualify as human, so I guess if you named one of them mohammed, that would be controversial too.

Or wait, is that non-human, or is it an animal specifically? I know it's apparently bad for teddy bears.

Hey, can anyone tell me what was offensive about the song in the game? To my knowledge it was a Muslim that made the song. What were the references?

it wasnt anything actually 'offensive' but you cant apparently put the words of the quran/kuran to music.  That goes against the muslim religion.

crazy.
