Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendogs for the Wii? Where is it?

@The Banned Dude: 20 million in sales--yeah, who would want it, right?

I think certain aspects of Nintendogs wouldn't work too well on Wii, while certain ones would be much enhanced.

Worse:
-Petting your dog or touching it in any way: part of the joy of the game on DS is physically 'touching' the dog. Having it 'lick' your finger. Pointing would not have the same effect.
-Only people with WiiSpeak could do voice commands, the original game's most defining feature. However, it's possible they could bundle the two like with Animal Crossing.

Better:
-Pretty much everything else.
-Throwing a frisbee or ball will be amazing with Wii Motion+ (as we've already seen)
-Holding up a treat and watching them beg before you toss it would be really cute.
-The Wii's 'somewhat' improved online system over the DS could allow online dog shows, playing with other peoples' dogs online, etc. They could also include a screenshot function, as dog owners tend to love taking pictures of them.
-Graphics. The DS already has some of the most realistic-looking and best-animated dogs in gaming, so imagine what they could look like on Wii.

Having a real dog is much more fun.

Thanks for that.  I didn't realize that a real pet is more fun than a virtual one.

In fact, you've just opened up a whole new world for me.  Playing real hockey is more fun than playing NHL.  Actually wrestling is more fun than playing a TNA game.  Really shooting someone in the face is more fun than.... wait.... I'm completely missing the point and being a fanboy, aren't I?

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

*facepalm

In case you didn't notice, I was imitating you in the last paragraph.

I have three real dogs.  I play with them a lot.  I love them a lot.  One of them sleeps in my bed with me.

When I'm at home.

Now, I'm stuck in a residence building hours away, and I miss them a lot.  Having something that could substitute for them even a little would make me extremely happy.

There are many reasons for real dog owners to love Nintendogs, but you likely aren't going to be convinced no matter what so I'm done.

it's the same reason they haven't ported wii sports to the ds, it just wouldn't work right.

Nintendogs for the Wii makes so much sense there's no way it won't be released in the next 12 months.

Add me to the list of people scratching their head over why Nintendo doesn't make a full fledged console Pokemon game.

I don't want a MMO pokemon game though, because my life would be completely ruined after that came out. (I'd be basically playing it 24/7 for the rest of my life, which  might not last long without sleep and water.)

Nintendo is already laughing to the bank. They have no need to make a Nintendogs Wii, especially if they don't think it will translate from DS to Wii well enough. If anything, they're probably experimenting with more blue ocean games for similar success.

 Exactly

I think for Nintendogs to work on Wii it needs Wii Speak and WM+, maybe even optional balance board. All of those will be out in a mass way by 09's holiday season so.... Nintendogs as a '09 holiday release would make a lot of sense and help further boost Wii Speak and WM+ sales too.

Now where is the Pokemon MMO for Wii?? Those two out for Christmas would be HUGE beyond even what another Zelda and Mario could do combined.
