Look like I finally will update from my DS phat

This video has made me like the DSi alot more. If it has a decent web browser then I am sold.

So it'll record video as well? Is that what we're getting from that? I don't think they've stated that before...

Also, by my research, they've only stated that the internal camera is .3 megapixel, which is typical of that sort of camera (phones like the HTC Kaiser have a 3.1megapixel rear camera and a .3 megapixel front one). This means that the external camera will very likely be a much higher resolution. This reasoning is further supported by the quality of the images in the demonstration.

In other news, videochatting is entirely possible. Third-party software will likely be required, but it's definitely a very reasonable possibility now.

Mega Pixel = Width x Height x colour depth, high contrast also helps with good pictures. You don't need a massive resolution to get 3.x MP. I suspect most people just got the wrong interpretation when only the resolution was announced amd just lacked some technical know how. Considering that DSi is not intendted for profressional qaulity images about 3 MP seems a reasonable amount.

There was almost no point of having an internal camera unless it was for video orientated purposes.

You know a device like this would dominate in a WiFi saturated enviroment. Imagine an a country were WiFi spots were as soacked as celular nodes and that these WiFi spots were like paying an ISP. Internet everywhere. It could act as internetPhone, video phone, PDA, music player. This is a very ideal piece of software in a place. However considering that we are pretty far from a saturated WiFi country this doesn't fill the role.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Gosh, i was not sold on the DSI, but it sure amazes me how Nintendo really understands consumers. They really have a feeling for making technology user friendly for people. That camera function alone, and the ability to manipulate photos so easily will automatically ensure another 2 million in sales, from women alone (even though you can download free software that will allow you to do the same on your PC, but it is not the same as being able to do it on the DS).

The DSI will definitely not be a Japan only gimmick. Europeans and American go crazy for the DS, definitely after seeing a commercial with Hannah Montana sending a picture to Zak Efron on her new DSi.
.
I think the DS(i) is looking to have an even better year next year than this year.

The internal camera is most likely for gaming functions and not so much video chat. Probably the same reason the mic is there.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

What the heck are you talking about? 1 megapixel = 1,000,000 pixels. To calculate how many megapixels, you multiply the width by the height, then divide by 1 million. A 1080p display is just over 2 megapixels.

Also, the inside camera is 0.3 megapixels, or the equivilent of the DS's screen resolution (VGA, 640x480). If the outside camera is 3 megapixels (actually, 3.1), it'd be QXGA resolution, which is big enough to be high-quality on even the highest resolution screens (higher than even 1080p).
