Forums - Nintendo - The official NTDOY/Nintendo discussion thread

I think we are going to get blowout numbers on the 25th.

For the year I have been invested in Nintendo, the numbers always seem to leak. My guess is that the runup and the GS rating are based on leaked information. I can't believe those ignorant chumps who think sales are down worldwide for Nintendo. If all of Japan stopped buying tomorrow, Nintendo could sell out in NA fro the next two years and then move onto India for another two years.

The urge to play is a terrible thing to waste.

Can somebody tell me the relationship between the NTDOY and the stock 7974 traded in Japan? Thank you.

NTDOY represents 1/8 of a 7974 share.

NTDOY is doing considerably well today, (possibly due to the overload of news?), it has risen by $2.25 since the market opened this morning (i'm in a different timezone, but i believe it was 3hrs ago)

Yea, NTDOY just broke $70. Sonic was seen ringing the closing bell xD

well, i estimate that nintendo should be able to make $3-4bln next fiscal year. maybe top out at $4.5 bln one of the upcoming years. that seems reasonable.

well, it's market cap is around $80 bln already.

which means... barring major news, we're close to the top, using a p/e of 20 as guidance.

for comparison purposes, Disney has a market cap of $70 bln. apple $145 bln.

apple keep growing because of one new product after another. what new product can nintendo make? the easy answer, mobile phones, cannibalizes sales of DS, and it's no home run.

to keep growing, nintendo really needs to complete its transformation from a pure gaming company to an integrated entertainment provider. by that i mean, things like more Exertainment, Edutainment, Medical-related entertainment (whatever that is), etc. Meaning, they'll need to work closely with other industries.

I don't know--doesn't seem like it's happening. I remember the DS in Japanese schools and WiiFit gaining interest among American fitness centers, but no official indication so far anyway. I don't know if it could actually be that profitable, especially compared to publishing games, but at least that'll be a new source of revenue.

Here's hoping.

the Wii is an epidemic.

Wow, we've touched 68000. Remember my prediction of $80 by 2q earnings? Looking pretty good now

Looks like we're going to go up a few more % tonight.

Lingyis, I see your point, but it's going to be a bare minimum of 1.5 (calendar) years before we hit that plateau.

It seems to me that Exertainment, Edutainment, Medical-related entertainment is working. This is the first holiday season where many people are aware what Nintendo is offering, and lots of people seem excited. True the market cap is big, but right now there is no one else in the new markets that Nintendo has identified. How big a market can computer based entertainment become? I can see them selling three hundred million units a year eventually, where a unit is an accessory, console or game. Nintendo has world wide appeal.

What if....Nintendo became large enough to buyout the PS unit from Sony? Sony has been selling it's businesses to concentrate on more profitable areas...Crazy? Maybe, but at one point Sony was considering buying Nintendo.
