I don´t think a retailer phones Sony for 50 HSG units and phones them one week later for another 50?

They are propably still about 300k. Maybe 350k.

Given the desperate situation for the PS3 in Japan and that Sony fans are posting really every piece of positive news on the internet we would know by now if the retail preorders were higher than 300k. So my guess is, they are still 300k.

And Nintendo fans aren't?

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Apparently not. Or are you seeing every week a thread "Wii outselling PS3 and 360 combined on a worldwide basis"? No, but you see "PS3 is #1 on amazon" and everything else that slightly indicates that the PS3 is seeing an upwards trend.

You are right. Nintendo fanboys don't talk about Wii's success. I enjoy N-boys special - "PS3 is now totally dead" posts though...

It seems there's too much of an habit these days of quoting people without realizing what they're talking about. Either that or ignoring it, which is even worse.

Do you know the difference between "talking about Wii's success" and (and I quote) "posting really every piece of positive news on the internet"?

PS: When you see a sarcastic post like yours I immediately look out for such mistakes/sleazy moves.

Please. N-boys don't enjoy Wii. They prefer bitching about gloomy PS3's future. Right now we have 3 Hot Topics about upcoming doom. Personally I prefer looking for positives...

- Ignore...

Both series have fairly similar sales records with Everybody's golf being more popular in Japan while Mario Party is more popular in North America. Currently, Mario party 8 has sold (roughly) 700,000 units in North America and is still chugging along and may (eventually) be one of the highest selling Mario Party games ever.

Everybody's Golf should outsell Mario Party in Japan but I expect the 3:1 Userbase advantage and 7:1 Weekly sales advantage of the Wii gives Mario Party the advantage it needs to win by a wide margin.

HSG preorders were 300K two months and a half back .Maybe now they are higher ?

Mario Party is a very bad game and has received terrible critics ,maybe japanese will show they "knowing " of games and not buy this thing .In any case its a great franchise .

Good luck with that. MP8 is aimed directly at the audience the Wii is partially intended for. Casuals and some hardcores by the game because it is fun to play with other people. No one cas dispute that, and the Japanese people will not be driven away by bad review scores.

Just kiss the tip.

Yea if everything was equal HGS would have a slight advantage but Wii is the hot system with 3x the userbase, and the wiimote is probably getting people excited about a game like mario party.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

What? 500k? Most Mario party games barely average around 800k in Japan. 500k sounds excessive as all hell man. Like WAY excessive when you look at the first week sales in Japan of the older MP games, they have been going down not up. I wonder if retailers are jumping the gun because Wii sells so much, or if their high retail orders are because they have seen a massive spike in preorders for the game. This will be interesting. If HSG cant take #1 for the week all hell is going to break loose. Many a conclusion will be jumped to.

You got to be kidding me! I seriously hope this won't be true?! Who wants to buy such a low rated game like MP8, game got low scores all over the West and it's not even online. If this turns out to be true, it really pisses me off. Again a idiotic party game wins over normal games, and more the reason for developers to come up with this kind of nonsense. Because it sells so good... *pulk*.

No, it sells well becuase of Mario. At least, thats my guess.
