Forums - Sales - Famitsu: PSP sold 155,720 units last week including 141,270 PSP-3000

My question, is why did 15k buy a PSP 1000 and 2000 this past week. Maybe Piracy...

I'll go out on a limb and say that it's because the PSP-3k launched on Thursday, and there are 3-4 other days of available tracking for the old PSP's to sell.

Having said that, the DS sold well into the DS-Lite's lifespan in Japan. Media Create did a lot of tracking of DSL/DS sales. And to my knowledge, the DS stayed on the charts with relevant numbers for months after the DSL was in stores.

That's NSMB's launch week - the DS sold 6,300 units compared to 262,000 DS Lites....Which was well after the DSL launched.

DS sales during the DSL launch were incredibly high - the DS sold somewhere around 100,000 units after the DSL launched.

EPIC!! [am quite happy with my PSP-2000 though ^_^]

How short lived will this be? With the DSi around the corner, and no games to back up this new model (didn't the 200 has Crisis Core, or something like that). I'm willing to bet: not very long.

There's a Gundam Vs Gundam bundle coming in November, followed by a Dissidia: Final Fantasy bundle coming in December.

Wow, Japanese people must like their new models.

I guess the better question is re-asking what your referring to.

The PSP-2k changed the face of the console wars when it launched. It allowed the PSP to go from 30,000/wk every single week, to above 50,000 for nearly a year, and gave Sony their best year since it launched in Japan (US/PAL? Not so much).

I would predict that the PSP-3k will allow the PSP to sell over 50,000 every week until the EOY, and allow for decent sales through next year: Not as much as this year's magnificent cume, but far better than previous years.

The PSP will still have games to give it major boosts: I doubt many people looked at MHP2G and thought "Oh! A remake will move hundreds of thousands of PSPs!" but it did.

that is frickin awesome. i never thought PSP could reach those numbers again. DSi vs PSP3000 battle is gunna be epic

I think the Japan Preview should be axed from the site, it has been wrong many many times before and causes fanboys confusions and arguments.

PSP also have a lot of piracy problems in Japan?

Are you kidding, you can even buy magazines in Japan who explain how to hack and what you can do with it afterwards.

 No....Serious what is your problem?  I was just asking;
