Touchy people are touchy.

I actually liked the song, it has a cool "desert" beat. But I assume its not going to be in the game then huh?

Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?

so pardon my lack of cultural awareness, but what was wrong with the song

According to some muslims, nothing, provided that verses from Qu'ran are neither modifed nor used in a derogatory manner (and the song itself and the fact that the song's author is well known as a devoted muslim is enough for a lot of other muslims), to other it's wrong to mix Qu'ran and music. The issue had been already solved with patches in similar cases in the past, and so could this time, but before any muslim could even notice it and possibly complain and/or suggest the same solution chosen in the past, Sony on its own initiative decided to retire "tainted" copies of the game and was so forced to slip release date.

Re The cultural awareness thing

The Qu'ran is the word of Allah as transcribed by the one true prophet Mohammed.

Reproduction of verses from it set to Music would be considered deeply offensive to a devout Muslim.

All islamic religious authorities across the world consider it offensive? Because if the song's author is considered a devout Muslim, there must be islamic authorities somewhere that doesn't consider it wrong. And don't some Dervish orders mix Qu'ran lections, prayers, music and dances? Aren't Dervishes considered very devout?

Since when do Islamic principles have to apply to everyone else on the planet? If I (or my religion, Pastafarianism) declare bananas offensive, does that mean all mention of them must be removed from Donkey Kong games?
