Forums - Nintendo - Wii Sensor Bar Issues

I actually think that even though the sensor can be totally off like mine, it is still easy to hit your targets. I'm always missing my targets in Gears of War. Mind you I suck at it, but I bet if it had Wii aim, I would be more accurate. That said, I would still like the option of turning off that onscreen reticule without feeling like my sensor is broken. I seriously am doing something wrong. I will go through this thread again and try everything. Also I just wanted to say that I picked up my Wii a few days ago from BestBuy who got in 200, according to an employee. I wonder if this will affect next weeks data. Could Nintendo have intentionally released more to counter the PS3 price cut?

I can look directly down the middle of my wimote and the cursor is right on. I don't see how people are having this "problem".

I put my sensor bar above my TV directly in the middle.
I sit in front of the TV, not left or right.
I am about 6' or so away from the TV.
I hold the wiimote up in Godfather or Wii Menu and look down the 'barrel' and my cursor is perfect.

I can't wait for Metroid Prime 3 and Resident Evil games. I am probably going to get a gun attachment.

32inch TV? Becuase my 40 is too big, and my 26 is too small.

32inch TV?

That's definitely one of the most popular sizes, so it makes sense.

Reality has a Nintendo bias.

I have a 32" widescreen (or is it 36, can't remember) and I can look straight down the 1 and 2 buttons and see the pointer reticle on the screen right where it should be.

The only time I've ever had trouble was at christmas when the tree was too close to the TV, and the christmas lights were giving off false positives, and when I take it to my Mom's. She has a window right next to her TV, and that causes false positives.

I wasn't aware of the calibration in zelda. All Wii games need to do this.

Witty signature here...

Wii: 14 million by January  I sold myself short

360: 13 million by January I sold microsoft short, but not as bad as Nintendo.

PS3: 6 million by January. If it approaches 8 mil i'll eat crow  Mnn Crow is yummy.

With these results, I've determined that I suck at long term predictions, and will not long term predict anything ever again. Thus spaketh Crono.

I'd guess that as developers play around with the pointing, they'll come up wiht better and better ways to calibrate it as accurate as possible.

My only problem with it so far is that it has a pretty limited range. With a 50 inch TV, my best viewing distance is right on the edge of the sensor bars limit. I was thinking of getting a 3rd party one to see if it worked any better, or getting a couple of IR lights and making my own.

I find it very accurate on all the games I have. Wii Play and RE4 in particular are very accurate.

Go into the Wii system settings if you are experiencing trouble and adjust the sensor bar calibration. Depending on how close/far you are from the screen affects your ability to aim accurately. Adjust/calibrate from here and test, it should work great.

Should also help a bit if for example your TV is positioned particularly higher or lower than normal. But best bet is to position TV in a more user friendly location.

Also make sure your batteries are not on their way out as this can cause problems.

Well I suppose I should of read the instruction booklet. I will go into system settings and mess around. I'm still pulling for calibration though. I'm also going to go back to BestBuy today and see if they have any Wii's left from Friday when they got 200. Wii's are really popular in Canada and I'm curious.

Yeah thats what I don't get about this new "wii lightgun" type accessory. The controller NEVER points to the exact spot you aim at, it just uses the sensor bar as a reference, not the size of the TV.

Hey just wanted to say that I put the sensor bar on the top of my TV and it feels way better. It felt broken before and now it's within reason. I can look forward to Metroid now. Thank god.
