Forums - Sales - The Official September NPD Thread (Data at 6:30 PM EST ~4 hours from now)

very surpirsed at how well ps3 is doing, with the big 360 price cuts i would have though it would have taken away some of the future ps3 buyers but it didnt. i thought the 360 had all the steam for the past 6 weeks but the ps3 may be picking up steam it sold well without price drop and no good games. it can only get better with socom, lbp etc.. should sony just cut the price and get back ahead of the 360? imo they dont have to yet? the gap isnt big enough to worry about, only 100k.

Makes you wonder how the euro numbers are doing being as we dont have anything to compare it with

I'm pretty sure GFK gives numbers for PaL regions.  We also have ChartTrack for the UK.  If i'm wrong i'm sure BKK2 or somebody else can tell you who gives out numbers for these regions.

Also, we get quarterly reports from MS, Nintendo and Sony which give the most accurate numbers possible for shipped units. Although MS only reports worldwide numbers and doesn't break it down by region.

blah blah blah, just shut up you idiot.

I guess GTAIV08 quoted the wrong person?

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Nobody owes you anything.

In fact I am nearly always right and you and the "OMG look at these numbers!!" estimations  worshipers are not.I use common sense. You dont ,you just take estimations as fact and use them as "proof " of you being right and me being deluded. Its as simple as that.Sometimes a broken clock is right as you say ,as you have been once or twice (dont remember any but will you the benefit of the doubt ) but thats all.

I dont expect excuses because  some nasty remarks ,I know some arent mature enough even if I threw the gauntlet back then and some happily took it .Next time I expect more respect when I say something absolutely coherent as doubting Wii TFU over PS3 TFU having seen all the other countries numbers.

Good numbers for Wii, DS and 360 (up a lot from the month before).

However nothing is shocking about any of these numbers. The DS/Gameboy has always been a monster, and the Wii has gone way mainstream so there is no stopping it. 360 got a 78% percent boost I believe the NPD said which they have to be happy about. The PS3 was up as well, but like everyone else I think it needed a holiday price drop, and it did not get it.

The next 3 months should be interesting. We are getting into the big game season, lots of TV advertising , etc. In the end just let the gaming market keep growing in all ways. It's better for all of us in the long run

Spartan, its a 115k difference on NPD in the USA for PS3 vs. 360.

Its a 165k difference on VGC when you scaled the Americas down to the USA. Since Canada and the other portions of the Americas are good 360 territories (PS3 costs upto $2000 in alot of Latin America for God's sake) there is probably a 10-20k swing there. The rest of it comes from estimating 360 higher and PS3 lower in the USA than what NPD had.

So yeah, we don't have them as close as NPD does in the USA, but the discrepency isn't as big as you seem to think.

Actually, WiiStation360, most of the said consoles were undertracked in some way or another....X360 was low since NPD only covers the USA.

Unless you are talking about software as well, the DS and 360 are still overtracked after multiplying by .9.  Not by much mind you, but they aren't undertracked.

Interesting to see how big the gap was between the PS3 and Wii versions of TFU.  VGC has them practically equal, while NPD has the PS3 45% higher.

Actually as BKK2 has proved with his vast collection of sales data, the PS3 is either unreleased, or selling basically nothing in the areas outside USA and Canada, while the X360 is doing very well in Mexico and most South American countries.

So in fact, for the X360... you shouldn't just add 10%, but more like 12%

Wheras for PS3, adding in Canada usually only adds 8% or so, and Wii about 9 or 10%.... DS sells well in most places, so it would be slightly more than 10% too.

The 10% figure is in reference to the whole market, so of all Americas sales, USA accounts for 90%, but the split differes between consoles.
