It's not what's in mentos, it's what's on the outside that matters...hehe.

The porous candy shell forms tons of little bubbles as it sinks to the bottom of the bottle, and by the time it hits the bottom, it's already formed tons of bubbles and foam, which quickly shoots out the bottle.
