Forums - Nintendo - I figured out why third party games don't sell well on the Wii

Third party games do not sell well on the Wii because the better quality games are the Nintendo first party titles. Third party Wii games get bad publicity which also adversely affects their sales.

I'm amazed no-one is taking heed of my signature.... this thread should have been locked after the OP due to the OPer being RolStoppable.

Nobody takes your signature serious, because they all know that I don't drink beer.

No one takes your signature serious, because everyone knows I don't wear underwear Sonic sucks.

Woah, let's just calm down a bit, before someone says something they regret.....

Let me try: Mario Kart 64 is awesome and it deserves all those sales on the VC.

Yes, I am regretting it already.

Third party developers should released new AAA games on the Wii to TRULY prove that third party games can't really sell on the Wii. The only AAA games on the Wii are PS2/Gamecube ports and first party games. Sadly enough, this will probably hold true for the rest of the Wii's life until something like the Conduit or MadWorld can prove third party efforts can truly be fruitful.

Pixel Art can be fun.

There things explain many of those games

1. They were early releases. The later Medal of Honor game was considered to be pretty good (its 75 Metacritic score is higher than SW:TFU).

2. They were intentional shovelware. Anyone who buys games from those half a dozen seemingly here-to-fore little known publishers who are porting over PAL bargain basement PS2 games and other tripe knows they are not getting quality.

3. They were made by Ubisoft. Enough said.

The third-patys dev are starting to produce some quality for the wii, see:
- Namco-Bandai (Tales of...mother, fragile)
- Marvelous(a ton of interisting stuff)
- Capcom( Monter hunter 3)
and others....the problem is that the werstens ones thinks that any crap sells on Wii...so they have to open his eyes...some are doing:
- Ubisoft(I know crap....but they have Red Steel 2)
- EA(Skate it, tennis game....and crap too..ehhe)
- Sega(MadWorld...this is for us )
and this is an oporunity for the independents...Hight Voltage....THE CONDUIT..when this tilte arrives and, I hope so, sells a milion of copy maybe things change.just my opinion..

Well Rol, you got all wrong. The reality is that Nintendo secretly asked wii owners not to buy 3 parties games, because since they have half the total hw, they will conquer the software market too. Off course there some traitors that go and get the 3p games, but they are relatively few. This all for the good of Nintedomination, so the only game dev will be Nintendo, Whuahahahaha(evil laugh).
Well, now the Nintendomination squad will have to kill all that have this info and don´t have a wii. This is Confidential after all.

It's still shocking to see how the most popular system of a generation has so much trouble to sell third party software. But what could be the cause of this?

After careful consideration of the facts at hand, I came to the conclusion that third parties are damaging their own franchises on purpose in order to sustain the myth that "only Nintendo games sell on Nintendo systems". They are doing it, because they need an excuse to not make games for the Wii when they are talking to their investors, simply because they hate developing games for your mom, your grandma and your poodle. Let's look at a few examples of games that were sent out to kill franchises:

Can anyone honestly say that just one of these games is good or at least of acceptable quality? I don't think so. These games were released with the pure intention of destroying franchises. It's no surprise that third party games generally don't sell well on the Wii, because their publishers don't intend to sell games in the first place. They make it pretty clear that they want Wii owners to purchase first party software in droves and I have to admit that they are doing a damn good job at it.

It makes perfect sense.

i agree with you partially yes they are crippling their own games, but only to produce them cheaper, since they no the wii will still sell enough of a crap game to turn a profit, where they have to try on the hd console to do the same.... nintendo needs to bring back the seal of quality

Well they clearly don't want to develop for the Wii. Wii forces them to be creative and imaginative in how they implement Wii remote controls and it also forces them to have a high level of ability to get the most out of the limited hardware power of the Wii. With PS360 they can release the same game but just with shiny HD graphics and the hype will be enough to sell the game.

i would only agree with you if nintendo had implemented one to one controlling to began with, as it stand nintendo went halfway and slacked off, and developers do the same, im interested to see if this changes when motion plus is out, or has the damage already been done
