Forums - Nintendo - I figured out why third party games don't sell well on the Wii

You need to stop figuring things out.

The truth is there is no need to create big AAA games for the wii, ask the creators of carnival games.

The DS has similar shovelware too and it sold. I guess no one should've made good games on the DS either?

The games will come eventually as the userbase will be too much to ignore, i'M looking at you Ubisoft, but right now, I believe most third party developers prefer The HD consoles.  The 360 and PS3 sells software unlike the PSP/

Crap doesn't sell? From this, I conclude that customers hate quality.

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)
PC: 10^9
Wii: 10^8

Wait...I was thinking of MoH Heroes 2.

@psrock

Western devs maybe. Japanese devs no.

The same Japanese devS that are making games left and right for MS. I;m sure with enough fundinngs, the tend will continue.

Wait.....since when was Ninjabread Man part of a franchise? I know it came out on the PS2 first but..............

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! CRY LITTLE MAN, CRY!!!

Well, I was already aware of a Ninjabread Man sequel, but the games listed above besides NM had several titles released for those franchises beforehand. Ninjabread Man was the first in it's series, so it kind of didn't count for me.

Okay, THAT makes sense, and now I'm with you.

@ RolStoppable:

Don't forget Prince of Persia for Ubisoft! Nor is Ubisoft the only example. I present the following from EA...

And definitive proof from Activision

And we haven't even begun to touch the other third parties!

I think you should edit your first post, to reflect this obvious truth....

I was all set to make a post stating how I don't believe the theory and give reasons why I feel otherwise and even offer proof. Then I thought about it and wasn't sure if this thread was even intended to be serious so now I'm too confused to post.

I'll come up with something better eventually...

Ok, I'll assume you're being serious but I'm probably making as ass out of me and "u"

It's still shocking to see how the most popular system of a generation has so much trouble to sell third party software. But what could be the cause of this?

After careful consideration of the facts at hand, I came to the conclusion that third parties are damaging their own franchises on purpose in order to sustain the myth that "only Nintendo games sell on Nintendo systems". They are doing it, because they need an excuse to not make games for the Wii when they are talking to their investors, simply because they hate developing games for your mom, your grandma and your poodle. Let's look at a few examples of games that were sent out to kill franchises:

Can anyone honestly say that just one of these games is good or at least of acceptable quality? I don't think so. These games were released with the pure intention of destroying franchises. It's no surprise that third party games generally don't sell well on the Wii, because their publishers don't intend to sell games in the first place. They make it pretty clear that they want Wii owners to purchase first party software in droves and I have to admit that they are doing a damn good job at it.

It makes perfect sense.

Some of those games on there are crap but I doubt that EA was trying to kill Medal of Honor or Need For Speed since those are big franchises for them and they've come out with sequels since on the Wii. And Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 got great reviews so Think EA does intend on making more games in the franchise on the Wii.

That's it? I assumed you would be writing an essay based on your previous post. But it's better this way anyway, so far I have found no reason to dislike you, so I can't say that I would enjoy wasting your time.

I'm a man! I'm 30! (I hope you watch ESPN) I'm too old to write essays.

Why is this on your list?  The only thing we know is that it's pretty much the definitive version--it's the only damn one with SPLIT-SCREEN for god sakes.  Also, Treyarch made CoD3, but it looks like the Wii version of CoD5 will actually be fun, so...

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

You're looking at this wrong, though. Medal of Honor and Need for Speed were such strong franchises that stockholders insisted that they be given a second chance. EA then proceeded to try and screw up again, so they can have the "out" they so desperately want. For Need for Speed, it's Mission Accomplished! And MoH Heroes 2 is literally a PSP port! They just forgot how incompetent, how inept, they can often be. So when they set out to fail again they accidentally succeeded.

Happens to the worst of us. No worries though, they'll do better (worse) next time!
