Forums - Nintendo - I figured out why third party games don't sell well on the Wii

Didn't you already do this one once? I swear I remember sopmething like this but meant to be funny rather than depressing

@psrock
I will see you Carnivalgames and raise you a Mario Kart Wii. Big games means way way higher profit.

You need to stop figuring things out.

The truth is there is no need to create big AAA games for the wii, ask the creators of carnival games.

So you are saying that third party games sell too well on the Wii?

For the crap they are putting out, yes i am saying that.

Carvinal Games is the EXCEPTION, not the rule.

Pixel Art can be fun.

It is really b/c Nintendo in-house conservative Japanese strategies. If they can do a perfect product in-house, why then spend extra yen to develop outside? For more detail, you have to look back at the 1st and 2nd gens with Nintendo's 10NES chip, etc.

My cousin loves that game. Seriously.

After careful consideration of the facts at hand, I came to the conclusion that third parties are damaging their own franchises on purpose in order to sustain the myth that "only Nintendo games sell on Nintendo systems". They are doing it, because they need an excuse to not make games for the Wii when they are talking to their investors, simply because they hate developing games for your mom, your grandma and your poodle.

Usually, I'm right there with you, but this time I think you got it completely backwards. See, developers are purposely damaging their traditional franchises on the Wii because they like making games for your mom, grandparents, baby siblings, puppy, and goldfish.

That's why, for instance, Ubisoft is cheerfully making more Petz games: Prince of Persia; Two Thrones failed, so Wii audiences obviously don't like those games. Ubisoft is now free to make more of the Petz games that are near and dear to their hearts.

Think about it.

Hold on a second everyone. We are starting to drift into serious discussions here. That's just wrong.

 You have no one to blame but yourself. You started this all with a reasonable point backed by real facts and clear logic.
