PS2 is not selling cause of how "1337" it is,its selling cause of its next gen rival,NINTENDO!

Major game company make a game for the Wii and say "Hey that PS2 is still selling,Since both are the same lets add it on PS2,take out motion sensor and port it fast!!!"

This is why the PS2 is still selling not cause of its "1337",but because of nintendo.

Then people see it and go "Cheap PS2 with NEW games,i gotta buy one".

's a possibility. But don't you think it might have to do with the gigantic backlog of games and not the scant pathetic smattering of games it gets nowadays? Beyond Persona 4 there is nothing coming to PS2 that is even in my field of vision.

The reason they're still selling is both the one you mentioned and its monolithic back catalog, that makes it so 1337.

And btw, more PS2 games get ported to the Wii than the other way around.

Are you serious? Alot of games get ported to Wii or vise versa.

Just as a note. The NES sold well into the lifespan of the Genisis and Super Nintendo.

I think the reason the PS2 sells well is because neither the 360 nor PS3 has dethroned it while the Wii has an entirely different control set.

Had the PS3 or 360 become the market leader i'd guess the PS2 would of died off quicker.

your true about one thing, that the Ps2 is selling because of the Wii, but not only because of that.

The reason why the Wii is helping the Ps2 sell so good, is the fact that it's keeping the consumers/gamers in a last-gen state. The main reason however is the fact that the PS2 was/is the best console ever made, which isn't just a opinion but a general statement and fact.

and thats this year, the ps2 has alot of games coming out, and some are pretty good.

I could go down to a used games store right now and pick up the entire collection for 20 dollars.

The rest i don't think most people have heard of outside of the Kingdom Hearts game... and i'd question the appeal of said games to a group of people that for one reason or another have gone 5-6 years without a PS2.
