Forums - Sales - 7/26, big week for Japan.

Minna no Golf 5 (PS3)- first week 200K , final 300K considering that Gundam Musou hit 175K in its fist week. You cannot expect more from a target audience of 1 million PS3 owners.
Dewy's Adventure: Suishou Dewy (Wii)- first week 30K , final 150K bad time to release a Wii game with Gundam, MP8 in the frame.should show stromger legs with word of mouth.
Kidou Senshi Gundam: MS Sensen 0079 (Wii)- first week 125K, final 250K, too many high profile releases cannabalising each others market share.
Mario Party 8 (Wii) - First Week 200K, final 500K, Mario Party games open very strong, but will they have strong legs
Oblivion - (X360)- 10K, 20K Final (i was LMAO when i saw that 70K first week)

Heeeeyyyy!!!! <Snap>

Fonz, you DO realize, like I have said multiple times, that Oblivion has ALREADY out-sold Trusty Bell's retailer preorders, as they've recieved more demand for Oblivion than Trusty Bell, that's sold 50k opening week, correct?

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Here's my prediction

Mario Party 8: 200k
Gundam: 174k
Hot Shots Golf 5: 100k
Elder Scrolls: 38k
Guilty Gear: 20k
Dewey's Adv: 20k

You're kind of too optimistic concerning the WII sales. I never believe Mario Party 8 will sell that much and I hope not, the game looks nothing but another dumbass party game which would win it again from the regular games. Sorry for my language but I can't stand it no longer to see crappy party games selling over good, normal, hardcore games. Gundam I don't believe either it will sell that much, Minna No Golf 5 I think it will sell around 250.000. It may be stupid to say it perhaps but it deserves better sales then Dragon Quest Swords. Still can't stand the crappy graphics on my LCD TV, is it so hard for SE to put a progressive scan in a game?

Uh oh Wiigirl is getting bitter. :p

All these games are going to slaughter each other.

The question is how much of a system seller are those games gonna be?

Mario Party 8 will clearly move some system because Nintendo will stockpile again. Not as much as with Dragon Quest but 80-90k seems possible.

Hot Shots Golf will sell systems, too - it is a GAME, that´s what we saw with N64 and Gamecube - people want to buy a PS3 but there are no games, so as soon as there is a game that "could" be bought together with a PS3 they gonna buy it.

But the question is, will the game appeal to the core (= the people who already own the system) ro the more casuals? Because the casuals seem more interested in Wii Sports and other Wii games.

Dewie could have some system seller aspects, too - it may just sell 5k systems but it is a title that is totally different from everything on Wii.

And Gundam is a given - it should sell good but not awesome.

HSG is the biggest title that week but all in all the Wii games should have a bigger impact as they are just...more.

Does Nintendo really ship extra units for Mario Party? I mean, the game is developed by Hudson now, Nintendo hasnt made a Mario Party since what, 4? Im wondering if they would bother shipping more consoles for an outsourced game like that. But then again, it did sell 550k units here in America in under a month. I swear...

I wonder if MP is Hudsons biggest money maker? Anyone know of any of their other franchises that sell better than Mario Party? I dont think Bomberman does.

You can say that again! Several people call Dragon Quest Swords the "hit on the WII", why? Because it's from S.E.? Give me a break! These guys are dissappointing me for several games now, except FFXII Revenant Wings and Itadaki Street. I even sold FF for the PSP as that game sucked big time and I don't easily sell my own games. I have a much better time playing with Harvest Moon Yasuragi no Ki than with DQS. Score on Amazon Japan is dropping and it seems like I'm not the only one who's dissappointed. Besides.... the game is too short.

Games which are quite good hardly sell and games which are rubbish only sell because of "name and fame". I just hope for the sake of gaming, they don't screw up FF CB! And when they put in a progressive scan option, it would be one which makes the graphics crystal clear and not with a view over a lake which looks like it's filled more with pixels then with water on a LCD TV.
