....Wait...what? Why do people purchase a game that they think will suck? Isn't that what rentals are for? To test the waters, so to speak? Or better yet, purchasing a game that you think will be good?

I suppose the closest thing for me was Xenosaga. I had a weird dream that briefly included an appearance by KOS-MOS, and when I awoke, I had no idea who she was. I just knew I had seen her before in a video game or trailer somewhere and had to figure out what her story was. Two hours of sifting through games at Microplay (I didn't know what system the game was on, nor did I know the title) and I finally recognized her on the back of the box. I bought the PS2 that day. Very, very, very risky, purchasing a console for a stupid reason like that, but it worked out. It remains one of my ten favorite games to this day. I have amazing dreams. Like Peter Petrelli.

Purchasing, renting,...umm...stealing...any game you "aquired" you didnt really feel like playing but played anyway...and it blew your mind. Thats what were after here...

It shows how silly some of us can be with our judgements...Thinking that MGS and REsident evil 1 wont be amazing...tsk tsk.

The latest game that I enjoyed despite my initial pessimism was Wii Sports. I think I've played more ours of Wii Boxing against my brothers than most games in the last few years.

splinter cell chaos theory....... the original mercenaries......... crackdown ........ driver parallel lines (i got burned by driv3r though i still played it alot)

you're one pessimist of a guy if you felt Chaos Theory was gonna suck. Hated the earlier two Splinter Cells?

I had my doubts about NFL Street 2 and Eternal Darkness, 1) "Street" to me screamed FIFA STREET which is awful, 2) I'm not that much into "horror" games. what's worse, I played ED to the end always expecting to jump from my chair haha I didn't expect both games to suck though, I trusted the reviews and people I talked to

oh yeah, one that was surprisingly good is Porky Pig's Haunted Holiday on the SNES haha I rented it and beat it in one seat, it was awesome back then.

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

The Godfather Wii: I really don't like this kind of game which is why I avoid GTA but everyone said it was great on the Wii with the wii-mote so I gave it a try.
I didn't think it would hold my interest more than a day or two, but I enjoyed every second of it and completed everything 100%.

I bought Final Fantasy VII once when I was young because I thought it was three games in one and it was really cheap, I've never even heard of Final Fantasy when I bought the game and it definitely wasn't what I expected but when I played it I suddenly became a Final Fantasy fan.
