Forums - General - NHL: Thread for the 2008-2009 Season

Man, it would have been sorta cool to watch him yesterday.........Colorado and Detroit had such a huge rivalry back in the day, and most of it was due to Lemieux's hit from behind on Draper. This might just add some more tension between the Sharks and Wings (2 games left this season right?)..........or it might be a total non-issue (which it most likely will).

Only 1 game left between the Sharks & the Wings - on February 25th at Joe Louis Arena, hopefully he'll still be on the sharks roster for that game.

Sick comebacks by the Lightning and the Blues last night.

The Lightning ended up beating the Stars and the officials at the same time!

and the Blues with a miracle goal with only a tenth of a second left in the third against the East leading Bruins.

Very entertaining night.

Damn, another loss........but at least they showed up for this game. A good effort for the entire game, just unlucky at the last minute. This is the Canucks team I'm used to......not the players who were at home for the past 5 games.

I was surprised they didn't call the Sedin's for setting a pick ~15 seconds before the hook......I guess they were letting things go, but enough was enough at that time.

Lemieux played well...........couldn't tell he was retired for 5 years. The AHL conditioning must have helped him a lot (20+ games). Judging by his play today, he'll be a very valuable addition to the Sharks 4th line.

Did you enjoy the game Spire? And how is it that you're able to get tickets to any games? Here tickets sold out 10 minutes after they went on sale back in September.......the only way to get them now are scalpers?

They didn't really play that well, I mean they had 8 shots all game. They just went to their harsh shut-down zone after scoring first.

Halak is a bum, 2 weak goals in first period. I'm sick of these average goalies burning Montreal. Devils tomorrow, will be tough.

I'm comparing their play to the atrocious 5 game homestand.

They had 14 shots........they were at 8 after the first 2 periods. They only had 2 shots after the first, but they didn't play poorly at all in the first.....just nothing went on net. They cycled well, and set up good chances......they just missed the net. They went to defense mode near the end of the 2nd, and all of the third.

I was very dissapointed with the way the Sharks were playing for the vast majority of the game (esspecially with Thornton who couldn't win a faceoff to save his life) but somehow they managed to start playin for real with 2 minutes left & scored with 30 seconds left to tie it. Sharks continued to play well in overtime & Marleau won it in overtime. The last 10 minutes totaly made up for the earlier parts of the game. The Canucks kinda deserved to win that game, at least they got a point.

I ordered tickets to this game on Saturday, somehow their were tickets left - $42 each.

Lightning enter the All Joke.. errr.. I mean All Star break on a 3-1 homestand knocking off Philly, Dallas and Buffalo. They've also won 5 of the last 7.

As for the Canucks, well.. we have Luongo and Sundin now.. so let's hope they can get hot after the break.

Yes, let's hope. But looking at the big picture, I guess 7th place isn't too bad.

Not exactly related to the NHL, but I'm going to the Vancouver Giants game tomorrow!
