Once again, Tekken has been dead since 2/3, and it hasn't been revived since.

Look at the sales for the game:

Tekken 3 was the highest with almost seven million.

Tekken 5 was the lowest with 1.65 million.

You tell me how important Tekken 6 really is? On a userbase smaller than that of the PS2 when Tekken 5 launched?

Okay then.

Tekken 6 hasn't been important since forever, and no one has even been talking about it. lol. The only people making this big are anti-PS3 people who want this to hurt, when, again, it doesn't matter.

This thread fails at it's attempt to make something out of nothing.

The Tekken 5 numbers don't include others or the sales of Tekken 5: Dark Ressurection.

This post fails in it's attempt to belittle something little into nothing.

I'm not trying to belittle anything.

Firstly, Dark Resurrection didn't come out for the PS2, that was for the PS3 and the PSP.

Tekken 5's numbers do have "Others" sales too :S

And no, I'm not trying to belittle anyhting.  It is good that this is going to the 360, but the fact is that the sales for the system have been falling every since Tekken 2/3.  I just don't understand when this game became big.

It wasn't in people's posts, people weren't like "ZOMG, Tekken 6 will save PS3 in Japan" or anything like that.  The only time I remember hearing about this game is in the "Favourite fighting game" thread, and even then, the likes of VF and DoA were liked more than it.

But for a game that *might* sell close to 2 million on both consoles combined, I don't see how this is huge.

Seriously, I am not trying to belittle this game, as I do have a soft spot in my heart for this game, I just really want to know when this game became such a 'game-changer' for the consoel race.

There are conflicting reports.  According to Wikipedia, Tekken 5 sold much more:

"As of December 2007, Tekken 5 has sold around 4.3 million copies (note that the game was first released in February 2005)."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tekken_5#Critical_response

And yes, you were trying to belittle it.  Just as you tried to belittle the importance of FFXIII switching allegiences.  And Star Ocean.  And Tales.

Will this game cause any notable shift in the console wars? Probably not.  But the amount of lost exclusives as a whole most certainly has, and this will only add to that.

So, we're getting our sources from Wikipedia now?  lol.  Try not to use Wikipedia in arguments, it's hardly correct if it's not cited.

I didn't belittle FFXIII, that was HUGE, I don't remember doing it about Star Ocean, as I've never liked that series, and Tales?  No, I don't even remember posting much about that game, as it is a good game (played the demo).

Lol.  You have a short memory.  You were at me over my original Star Ocean prediction.  Tales you weren't a troll leader, just jumped on the "timed-exclusive" band-wagon.

As for FFXIII?  LOL!!! That was the single biggest defection in any direction of this generation.  And yet despite this, it was the catalyst for your transition back towards being a hardcore Sony fanboy.  Don't you remember when and why you put "Boycott Starcraft" in your signature?  It was when you created thread after thread arguing that the FFXIII defection was not as big a deal as it was made out to be and I stood in the way of that argument over and over and over again.

lol.  Narcaccistic much?

How do you know Starcraft is about you?  Could be about the game

Seriously, no lie, when did this game become huge?

Like, I don't remember news being reported on the game, or any hype from this game. No one was even talking about it until yesterday when it was announced multi-plat.

I really want to know when this game became a megaton like FFXIII, cause it's definitely not on that time, at all...

And looking at Namco's strategy going multi-plat with games, how is this any different? Ridge Racer, Eternal Sonata, Soul Calibur, and now Tekken, why is this unexpected enough to be considered a megaton?

Where did I say that Tekken 6 was like FFXIII?

At the end of the day, Sony has almost no 3rd party exclusives left, and everyone is just becoming a bigger and bigger deal to fanboys.  Thats why this thread exploded.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

I guess I'm baffled......

Companies (and M$ fanboys too btw) are always like "Well, HD console development is too high, so we have to go multiplatform to recoup costs and get a profit"

And yet, the same companies are making 360 exclusives (Tales, Star Ocean, etc)

I thought MGS4 proved that the PS3 could make a profit?

Lol, I know you didn't say it, but this thread is growing at FFXIII like pace... lol.

I don't really care that much anymore, I just wanted to know why this was a big deal, and why this thread was growing at epic proportions, and you answered me ^_^  So there we go.

It's a big thread cause fanboys are arguing over the latest shared third-party exclusive.  Got it.

That's my cue to exit this thread.

Um Tekken is one of the best Arcade fighter franchises in Japan. It's also one of the greatest 3D fighters in sold as a full franchise in the states. Fighting games as a whole have lost alot of popularity. Street Fighter IV and Tekken should make a come back. I'm expecting Tekken to make a little over 2 M worldwide. I'ts going to sell easily over 400,000 in Japan.

Lets see if any game that Sony puts out can sell more than Gears of War or Halo 3. I can't wait to see Fable 2's sales.

You are talking about Halo there, most incredibly popular games sell well anyway. Mario Sunshine sold over 6 million on the GC. Gran Turismo 5 will outsell Gears of War easy and might beat Halo too, Europe will see to that.

Hmm, pie.

Dude...lol in terms of sales Gran Turismo is Sony's Halo. It will be Sony's only over 5 M seller in 09.
