During an announcement revealing that customers who pre-order Insomniac’s upcoming FPS game from them will be guaranteed a place on the public beta, Play let slip that the beta will be available to download on PlayStation Network from next Friday. A closed beta for the game has already been running behind closed doors for numerous weeks.

I say the beta will start on the 15th.

 A closed beta has already started but this is a public beta which u will be able to download it from ps store.

no it will start on the 16th check out play.com if you pre order r2 they will give you the beta acces via e-mail on the 16th of october i have pre ordered mine!

Well Dpad does mention it.

Well, they refer to Play.com only as their source and Play.com doesn't mention even the word 'public'. That is, they think it is going to be a public beta.

Also, public beta seems to mean everyone has a chance to take part in it - not everyone will be able to get in it but everyone will have a chance. I'd rather call it an open beta when everyone will be able to join it.

Anyway, that article doesn't prove it's going to be open for everyone. It's all just speculation based on nothing.
