Resistance 2 public beta starting October 17th?

According to an Admin for MyResistance.net, the beta may come sooner than the 17th. Here is the post:

Hey everyone,

Over the last few days, I've seen several threads that *think* they know the start of the public beta. Well, they are wrong.

We haven't announced any firm dates for the beta yet. But trust me, it's close (like, real close). Please be patient and just ignore the threads falsely reporting the start date. As soon as we can tell you, we will--promise!
