You should try some chillpill for you paranoia. And one-sided Sony-vison. Espacially with your age in mind. Never to late. Damn lol!

I work at a video game retailer and the 360 (all models) is totally sold out at the store i work at and the surrounding area, don't know if it's the same elsewhere though.

nintendo and sega fan since i was old enough to hold a game controller.

note: my games collection on my profile is only 20ish% complete, i've got a boatload of 360,saturn and dreamcast games to add and a few ps3 games, thanks :)

Ms can't be happy with that price drop. They get a bump of interest then it wanes. At the price and with the same multi-plats, good exclusives and a bigger back catalog it should be selling well above PS3 considering that unless you really want BR as well it offers essentially the same as 360 for a much higher cost.

If 360 drops back below PS3 (which it looks like it will) I'll be really curious what MS do then as if they leave things as they are then 360 will definitely be third in Others. I know some are assuming the current economic situation will favour 360 (and it should) but the crunch is already on and 360 is really only a small amount above PS3 and trending down from the initial cut vs PS3 holding pretty steady.

They better hope the price cut holds better in Japan and especially the US as a three to four week bump that settles back isn't much for a pretty big drop in regular price.

If 360 does drop back then if I was Sony I'd seriously consider a very modest price cut before holidays in Others. The way its holding steady even a modest drop would likely generate a sustained increase in average weekly sales, which tied to new games and holiday season should drive strong sales.

Excellent post;

And agreed.

An extremely modest PS3 price cut after 360 falls back below it would really increase sales weekly, and effectively put the nail in the 360's coffin, at least in that territory.

agree.

How do you mean Flawed like hell?

ifa xbox360 pricecut cant move much more like you guys believe,  why the hell should a pricecut of a machine more expense work better?

Look up "Demand Forecasting"... in retail the past does indeed often tell you what will happen in the future.

As for the price cut for PS3, its current sales pattern clearly indicates that underlying demand for the console in Others is higher than 360 and that for some it remains just out of reach due to price.  Therefore a small drop would allow those to buy it, but due to the higher underlying demand it would likely see a sustained run of increased weekly sales.  The 360 on the other hand is doing well vs Xbox, but despite the low (almost ridiculously low) price it seems unable to generate demand to match the PS3... which is not good if you want to beat PS3 in sales which MS have stated they do.

I'm not knocking 360, I'm just pointing out the truth which is that so far the price cut hasn't delivered too much other than a spike.  Of course it may see many more sales over holidays due to low purchase price, which is why Sony should consider a drop as that would counter that, making the more attactive console (to many) in Others more affordable vs settling for the cheaper but less desirable console.

Simple.

You'd think so, but not everyone lives up to your username I'm afraid. I've been saying the same thing the whole year but some people just won't listen. Let them bicker and let the numbers speak for themselves in time.

although still outsell ps3, but a little disappointment on the numbers.
maybe supply constrain!!!
expect 360 EU number 80K above next week.

I would not be suprised at any supply constraint

Not here in Ireland anyway, and we tend to follow the patterns of the UK quite closely, so it's unilkely they're having any supply problems either. (The UK's also the 360's biggest market in EU.)

Nope, I don't think supply is a problem, mainland Europe could be a different story, but were hearing no news of it.

Ds ans Wii always great, 360 good, ps3 little rise but thought it would bigger since Fifa released.

There is no sign of any 360 supply issues in Europe that I can see.  It's selling okay in terms of numbers but you're going to have to face the fact that it would appear that for the price the demand just isn't as high as you would imagine for the console.

The simple fact is that PS3 is selling almost as much at a much higher price point, while offering essentially the same capabilities, which means that underlying demand for the PS3 is higher... in that the data supports the view that if both where the same price then PS3 would sell quite a bit more than 360 in Europe (i.e. we can see 360 sales at current price, and if we estimate PS3 increase in sales if it was reduced to the same price then it would clearly be significant, unless you chose to believe PS3 sales wouldn't increase even if reduced to 360 price point... which would be pretty obviously a false assumption IMHO).

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
