360 now has the biggest marketing campaign ever in Europe.

Has had a huge price drop.

It costs THREE times less than PS3.

It supposedly has the best, and many cheaper older games.

Yet..., PS3 already equals it's sales in Europe.

Once Sony drops price in Europe, just by as little as 50€, MS will be buried.

Ok this thread really makes me sick lol you people are ridiculous am I really reading this right? People saying the 360 is dead in Europe? Lol you people are sad. For one it has a good lead in overall sales in Sony land as you guys say also it just outsold the PS3 again this week.... I dont get it?

Actually it doesn't, the PS3 overtook the 360 in Europe in June, you're watching "Others" numbers, which accounts for more places

Now 360 sales drop in Others (still ahead of PS3), not even considering the upcoming Holiday sales and 360's upcoming line-up, and the comments are......

"360 price-cut is a failure!" - Yet to be seen, wait until Jan 2009.
"360 is dead in Others confirmed" - Uhhhh, are you serious?
"Price vs demand vs want vs blah, blah, blah" LoLMature......give it up already!

Consistency people, please. The PS3 is a great console....no one is arguing that fact. But so is the 360. The minute there is a drop in 360 sales (still ahead of PS3 in it's so called "fortress of power" region) people start losing their minds. We havn't even seen the flood of great titles for Oct/Nov on either system.

Wii is an unstopable beast as always!

great 360 number still high compare usual 45K weekly number, with Japan number rumored to be 360=ps3

then this october 360>ps3 again worlwide

november and december is the month for 360, with massive ad, and bundling strategies.

next week Japan number will be bounce back again, and so many great titles for xbox 360 with many exclusive DLC for xbox 360.

An extremely modest PS3 price cut after 360 falls back below it would really increase sales weekly, and effectively put the nail in the 360's coffin, at least in that territory.

ifa xbox360 pricecut cant move much more like you guys believe,  why the hell should a pricecut of a machine more expense work better?

 

Look up "Demand Forecasting"... in retail the past does indeed often tell you what will happen in the future.

As for the price cut for PS3, its current sales pattern clearly indicates that underlying demand for the console in Others is higher than 360 and that for some it remains just out of reach due to price.  Therefore a small drop would allow those to buy it, but due to the higher underlying demand it would likely see a sustained run of increased weekly sales.  The 360 on the other hand is doing well vs Xbox, but despite the low (almost ridiculously low) price it seems unable to generate demand to match the PS3... which is not good if you want to beat PS3 in sales which MS have stated they do.

 

I'm not knocking 360, I'm just pointing out the truth which is that so far the price cut hasn't delivered too much other than a spike.  Of course it may see many more sales over holidays due to low purchase price, which is why Sony should consider a drop as that would counter that, making the more attactive console (to many) in Others more affordable vs settling for the cheaper but less desirable console.
