Below is some sales information about the PSP worldwide.

1st Jan - 8th July 2006:
NA - 1.3m units sold
JP - 1m units sold
OR - 1.8m units sold
Total - 4.1m units sold in first 6 months

8th July - 31st December 2006:
NA - 2m units sold
JP - 0.9m units sold
OR - 1.6m units sold
Total - 4.5m units sold in final 6 months

1st Jan - 8th July 2007:

NA - 1.3m units sold
JP - 1.1m units sold
OR - 1.4m units sold
Total - 3.8m units sold in first 6 months

Very interesting, that the sales are very similar over both halves of the year.  Although sales are down slightly for the first 6 months of this year, I fully expect the sales to be back up to at least 4m for the remainder of the year.

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)

Interesting that there was almost no holiday boost for the PSP last year, sales really died off in the late summer in the face of the DSLite and a lack of software I think, though more releases and the price cut early this year have helped it back up a bit it's still a decline over last year.

Interesting numbers.

Expect numbers for the second half of the year to be higher, but I also expect sales to surpass last year's second half with big titles coming out late this year.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

I find it weird PSP doesn't do better in Japan, hope it picks up, I love PSP.

It's sold more in the first 6 months this year than last year.  Although this is probably down to MHP2.  I expect hardware sales will be much higher in the 2nd half of the year due to FFVII:CC as well.

 Needs more Japanese RPGs.

FF VIIL Crisis Core is coming bundled with a speacial edition PSP. That should move a few.

True, I was missing alot of RPG's before I sold my PSP, Tales of Eternia was good, but that was like so 2 years ago :P

Its an odd little machine. I think a price cut will help it a lot more than new games will. For whatever reason, I have absolutely no attraction to the device(?).

Sadly the PSP slim doesn't bring enough to the table to really merit a purchase for me. I considered it when I heard about all the crazy idea's people had for what the new device would offer. Sadly the new device really offers me nothing new. Battery life has been confirmed to be the same as the original which was the majour fault with the system to begin with. Also, how many casual consumers are even going to notice that the PSP was redesigned? It looks the exact same to me... I couldn't tell it apart... If I saw the two side by side, sure it's obvious but it looks way too similar.

Hopefully they do another redesign that actually improves the system's weaknesses (like battery life) and drop the price. As it stands, the new version looks like a cash grab for Sony... cheaper to make, more expensive to buy... ugh... Don't know if this thing will help increase sales, not that sales have been bad as they obviously haven't (Hardware wise). Software wise, they need to bring those numbers up... and do it quick.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.
