Forums - Sales - PAL Charts, Week 40: FIFA 09 takes over Europe

Sales of the game on Wii is nearly as I predicted, although I did think it would be 5% higher then PS2 sales. Guessing soccer fans either don't own a wii, or own both a wii and 360/ps3 and picked the HD version.

I think an interesting poll would be asking for soccer fans here from Europe, what consoles they own and based on what they own, which version they'd buy.

Wow, excellent percentage for the PS3 version of FIFA, very good one for the 360 also, looks like my prediction of PS3 version having a chance of topping the charts this week can actually be right, if it doesn't, at least it'll be very close. Very low numbers for the PS2 version, looks like a lot of people went next-gen compared to last year

despite a 1 million SALES LEAD PS3 is so close! WOW

well done PS3....that means overall it will definetely outsell 360's Fifa 09

Unlikely that the PS3 version will outsell the X360 version in the UK....Merely because the X360 userbase is much larger, and has the ability to have a larger purchasing base for Fifa.

At any rate though: Great numbers for the X360, and awesome numbers for the PS3 as well. I am amazed that the PS2 version did so poorly.

And it becomes evident, yet again, that Wii owners hate traditional sports games.

The opposite happened to Burnout Paradise:
1st week: 53% X360, 47% PS3
2nd week: 51% X360, 49% PS3
From 3rd week forward PS3 version was always higher than X360 and stayed in top 40 for 2 weeks longer.

Ireland added in 2nd post. Obviously Fifa 09 took top spot. SMG re-entered on 10th place.

FIFA 09 does very well on PS3/360, but the Wii sales didn't excite too much.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Amazing that Fifa 09 on the Wii sold worse than the 08 version, even though the userbase doubled.

EA itself is to blame though. Fifa 08 on PS360 was really good, and the Wii version was basic shovelware. The boxart of Fifa 09 on Wii also has shovelware all written over it. Can't blame people for avoiding the game like the plague.

Dont just compare the installed base for PS360 FIFA comparisons. The advertising campaign is considerably larger for the PS3 version compared to virtually nothing for the 360 version.

The PS2 numbers also give further evidence that the EA Sports 2010 range will not be on the PS2 anymore and we will see relatively more PS2 next gen converts from this holiday onwards.

I meant all of Europe by "overall"

Yeah PS2 is a HUGE % drop from last year....next year will EA even bother to put it on the PS2

Considering they released till FIFA 2005 for the PSX, I don't see why they wouldn't
