so i can buy another one to go in my bedroom. and then when there is yet another price cut ill buy another to put in the movie room so i dont have to keep moving my ps3 back and forth from the living room

A price cut would be great but for Sony profit is more important than finishing second on a console war.

Sony will be fine. I think that MS dropping the price of their consoles so quickly will backfire. Sony needs to keep their focus on making great games. Imagine when the ps3 starts price cutting in the future - it will sell more than the 360 by a long shot. Let the 360 run its own race. Sony needs to stick with the plan. People are still buying ps3's :D

Funny that the one console that's never even seen a single pricecut is most every week selling more that both the PS3 and Xbox360 combined. :p
..Can you imagine what would happen if Nintendo decided to drop the Wii's price to, like, 199 bucks? Or 149 for that matter? :p
Actually, come to think of it, they would sell just as much as before, 'cos they sell every console they put out there. :p
Anyway, if they upped production and THEN cut the price, it would be, like, the end of cicilization as we know it. :p

You say it as if it's: Oh, let's just make our incredibly expensive console 100 bucks cheaper, and nothing bad will happen.
I think what they need to do is similar to what Microsoft did. Have a 400 buck console with all of the current features, then have a 300 buck console with no PS2 compatibility (already there) no/small hard drive (back to 20GB?) and no WLAN. Basically the 20GB with no PS2 backwards compatibility. Keep the HDMI there though.

The main complaint people have with the PS3 is its price, but they don't realise that Sony will make a huge loss if it sells its current systems for 300 bucks.

Word on the street is, SONY's gonna have a price cut in the future....

At $399, the 80 GB PS3 is still a better value than the 360 elite. There won't be any price cut this year and the PS3 will still outsell the 360 over the holidays.
