Forums - Gaming - First time in Years a TGS Coming up WITHOUT FF7 Remake Rumors!

haha, ok so in your opinion it doesn't qualify to be a "remake", but in mine it does - our opinions don't count anyway but SEs count and if they tend to see it like I do, then FF7 would be the logical next remake - we'll see

...You're not really listening, here.

Final Fantasy Anthology and Chroncles were released even before Origins, which if you want to make the argument was the first actual "remake" in the series because it completely revamped the interface (and magic systems) of the first two Final Fantasies, even if they were sold together.

The difference between an enhanced port and a remake is not subjective. Final Fantasy 5 and FF6 being released in Final Fantasy Anthology in 1999 does not qualify as a remake. Those were ports with bad CGI tacked onto them.

If we accept your logic as true, we never should have seen an FFIV remake, because that was released as a port with CGI on Chronicles. But that's not true, right? We got an actual remake of that this year.

FFV is next in line.

If it is announced possibly is a PS3 exclusive. There will be another 360 exclusive announced and maybe 2 multiplat HD titles. I also believe FFV will be announced for DS along with 2 more titles. PSP will also get 2 new games. Wii will get no new Wii games, and FFVI will go to DS.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Fullfilled Prophecies

@ Khuutra)

the problem is not whether or not you "accept my logic as true"(which is isn't - it's a hypothesis on how SE could see the situation), I just don't want you to think of yours as the ultimative true hypothesis until some SE official confirms it, you know

FF VIII/FF IX remake > FF VII remake

FF VI remake > FF VII > FF IX

FF VIII remake = uneeded

@trestres: I take it you don't expect all of that to be announced at this TGS.

@Lafiel: Until trends indicate otherwise, it's a pretty reasonable assumption to make. I'm basing it on a pattern, here, rather than just lobbing grenades into the dark in hopes of hitting something. yes, they COULD announce the FF7 remake at TGS - but why would they, when every year builds more hype and allows them to better scope out which console (or handheld) would make them the most money? Why would they, when milking the franchise slowly nets more cash than just doing the one that one particular game's fanboys are screaming for?

If I've learned one thing about Square-Enix, it's never to assume they're going to actually give in to demands about anything, ever.

I wouldn't mind a remake for the wii.

Thank god. I'm pretty sure these rumors started circulating about 5 years before Final Fantasy VII even released...

What is the importance of FFVII? I have seen videos and really dont look good
