No, Sony also provides LTD totals. The figures do add up.

People seem to be letting their delusions get the best of them. The ps1 sold 105 miollion and the ps2 140 million so far. The bottomline is that 5 million is NOTHING considering the PS2 outsold the original xbox by over 115 million units. The 360 is dying in 2 out of 3 territories and is at a price point where there isn't much waggle room left. Once the PS3 hits PS2 mass market price it will leave the 360 in the dust, for proof just take a look at the ps1 ans 2 sales and compare their life time performance to that of the ps3 right now; nearly identical.
isnt ps3 tracking nearly 3million ahead of 360 in its like for like timeline? look at the big price drop effect for 360 and compare it to the big price drop for ps3 u will find it on hardware charts early on in timeline. ps3 at this price is tracking nicely, 360 did 170k with the initial others boost, once that boost is stagnented like its doing in jap and na, the picture doesnt look that good, many months ps3 did these numbers without any game or prie cut boost.
...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

Actually, if you look at this link, you will see that PS3 is tapering off now, where the PS2 exploded 2 years into its lifecycle.
| johnsobas said: wow the gap in NA has never been bigger than it is now even though the ps3 was eating away at it so many weeks this year, but the problem was it was a very small amount, and now it's getting beat by a significant amount. |
lol a couple of weeks higher sales due to price cuts, now makes 360 beating ps3e by significant amount?

The PS3 is 8 million consoles behind the PS2 when aligning launches... hmm thats about 50% behind and not "nearly identical" as you stated
but as Skeeuk mentioned, the PS3 is doing a lot better then the 360 when aligning launches, the PS3 price cuts really helped increase their sales in that same time frame.

People all need to remember that the credit crunch is actually going to massively affect sales.
Woolworths have now gone into liquidation due to the crunch and so has the company Miss Sixty. It's worse than tou think. I think in america at least Sony will drop the price not nessacerily because of M$ but because mums and dads at Christmas just flat out wont be able to afford it.
the ps1 sold about 100M more then is competior in its generation.... the ps2 120M more.... the ps3 is loosing by 17M..... a very big turn
the 360 come out 1 year before the ps3 but only has a 5M gap.... the ps3 is acutally selling more per year then the 360 despite its high prices
