if you want the sims you go buy the sims , if you want an RPG go buy an RPG . I don't care about setting up a fire if it's gonna snow or getting a girlfirend and children in a game , I'd play the sims if I wanted that.

What I what is a good storyline , excellent gameplay and great graphics none of that "real life simulation" stuff apeals to me , i'd play an MMORPG for that.

Meh i can't be bothered i'm out.

Let me ask you this,Why do people play God of war? Gears of war? Call of duty 4? Halo 3? Resistance fall of man?

So they can feel "leet" for that few seconds,Thats what most games do make you feel "leet" and then its over, short term  happiness,Fable 2 is trying to change that with so much more to do,after you play for 20+ hours and you got some good swords, clothes you can look at someone else and say "i have this and they dont"that you cannot do in most shooting games, and RPG = Role playing game thats most games these days,Role as in playing someone in a game.

I fail to see your point here.

Either I can feel "leet" by being better than the enemies at fighting or I can feel "leet" by having a better sword and fancier clothes than Non-Player-Characters/enemies. It's the exact same feeling. And I can get it in many RPG's, by different methods.

I highly doubt that Fable will take Role-Playing Games to a new level. The reason I doubt this is Lionheads impressive track-record. Black and White. Black and white 2. Fable. Each was supposed to be completely revolutionary. Each was supposed to be incredibly complex. And maybe they were incredibly complex and revolutionary, but that didn't really effect how fun they were to play. And most of the time you didn't even notice that they were, because the gameplay didn't really require all that complexity and you could play just as fine or even better if you simply ignored it.

I enjoyed Fable. It was a pretty game with a battle system that was fun. To me it was the best when you got to chop up monsters with a huge sword, fry them with lightning and shoot their heads off with a bow. If Fable 2 did these things, only better and prettier, it would be a good game. If it manages to tell an engaging interactive story at the same time, it will be a great game. I am just scared that Lionhead will mess things up with all these details that tend to clutter down their games and make them fun but not great. And if they are going to FORCE me to run around and play merchant when all I want to do is chop monsters, then it's going to be a BAD game. For me at least.

I understand your enthusiasm, OP, but have you ever heard of Dwarf Fortress?

That's exactly what makes Fable 2 such an interesting game. You can play just to battle and play through the story, but if you get bored just killing monsters and going on quests you can switch it up. Say you just went on a quest and leveled up a ton. You can go into a nice safe town, kill all of the guards then leave and go do other shit. When you come back, the city will probably have a crime problem and be run down. Plus with co-op your friends can come into your world and see how badly you f***ed it up or improved it. The world has so many options that making it suit your tastes becomes a second game.

It's cool that they are putting in the neat extras, but the issues with Fable had nothing to do with all these little supplements to the game.

I am really curious to the finished project.

I got a little concerned when he started talking about 'working' in the game as a blacksmith. In an MMO one can justify it as they compare thier stuff to thier friends and want to have higher 'social status.' - as well as be compliment by real people on their gear. It's hard to say if putting time into obtaining things in a game that isn't only online, will really be as rewarding as it is in an MMOrpg. Yea you can invite friends to play online, but I think the majority of players won't have many online friends into the same game. I'm thinking this game will be very polarizing between people that love it and people that think its garbage, and will receive mixed reviews.

It's like he's trying to make an MMO without being online. Yea this stuff seems interesting, but also seems very time consuming - something the shooter crowd probably won't dig. Just make a MMO already.

Dont want to be a blacksmith or bartender? Be evil and become an assasin. Be good and become a gambler. I have enough money from pub games to buy a shop or 2 and let the money roll in on its own. The work mini games do look a bit sad and tedious. I doubt  i'll go for them. The nice thing is that there are alternatives to make money. You can make a killing on Keystone by max betting the bottom row. You can do pretty good in Fortunes Tower as well. Perosnally I'm looking forward to becoming an assasin myself.

There are plenty of choices and variety to appeal to a broad range of gamer preferences. As long as its approached in a balanced method with equal, polished, emphasis placed on Story, Combat, Quests, & Openworld  Experience we all win. We will see If they managed that on the 21st or 24th.

It is about an 8.5 to an 8.8.

My most anticipated games:  Whatever Hideo Kojima is going to do next, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Gran Turismo 5, Alan Wake, Wii Sports Resort.  Cave Story Wiiware.
