Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What's Nintendo working on? Even more Wii and 3DS games.

I gotta go with trestres for a second on this one. You'll be lucky to see 20% of those games actually see release this year, if you go by what Ninty did last year.

They said that at E3 this year, they will have compelling software, but they can't release software so much that their titles eclipse each other.

If anything, the Q1 should've had a few of these titles released. However, the GC ports took their place.

I'm just an observer, so I don't know better than Nintendo or anything, but it is just something I noticed. Their vast array of new software may be why they abandoned old games like Fatal Frame 4 and Disaster: Day of Crisis.

SaviorX, exactly, NoA will fill the much noticeable gaps this year with GC ports. I expect the following:

Q1: 2 GC ports
Q2: 1 GC port and 2 new games
Q3: 1 new game and 2 GC ports
Q4: 2 new games and 1 GC port

Q2: New games I'm sure of- Excitebots and Punchout

Q3: New games- Sin & Punishment 2 and Wii Sports Resort ( I also have the feeling S&P2 won't be promoted much)

Q4: I do not know (E3 will decide)

It seems that the DSi has been the main focus of 09 so far, which is a shame, because the Wii steamrolled into 2009 with loads of sales potential, but it has simmered down for several reasons.

I think S&P is going to be the holiday title along Wii Fit +. Don't think they are going to release 2 new games in Q3. They didnt even release a new game in Q1. and Q3 is always a slow time of the year.

I don't think they will delay S & P 2 for 3 months, just so it can get blown out by a Wii Fit +.

It will come in July as planned, albeit with low marketing.

It wasnt planned for July 0.o

The game always had a 2009 TBA release date, that's why I believe it will be a holiday title, and also so Reggie can say we are getting a core game for the holidays. Remember WSR will be the biggest game this year, so 2 GC ports along with it seem right.

...

Did you actually look at the list I made? I'll rewrite to show the titles that WILL come to territories outside Japan, then games only for Japan so far and then I'll add in my extra titles and why I expect that..

99% Certainty or already released

- New Play Control: Pikmin
- New Play Control: Pikmin 2
- New Play Control: Mario Power Tennis
- New Play Control: Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat
- New Play Control: Metroid Prime
- New Play Control: Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
- ExciteBots: Trick Racing
- Punch-Out!!
- Wii Sports Resort
- Sin & Punishment 2
- Endless Ocean 2: Beautiful Ocean
- Pikmin 3

Japan Only so far

- Dynamic Slash
- Takt of Magic
- Cosmic Walker
- Line Attack Heroes
- Trace Memory

Other unannounced titles that I think are likely

- Mario Party 9 Q3 (With such massive sales for the first one and the Wii Balance Board and Wii Motion Plus available I think it's a good opportunity) [80%]

- Kirby: Legend of the Stars Q3 (This title has been on the Wii release list for a long time now and is another Japanese favourite. If this is again missing then it's safe to assume it's dead) [60%]

- Mario Sports Title Q3/Q4 (Another staple to Nintendo's year, Is it time for Mario Golf with Motion Plus?) [90%]

- Intelligent Systems new title, I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say it's Paper Mario 4 Q4 (A holiday Mario title will be a big hit, Super Paper Mario was a big seller so the series is sure to continue, biggest question is has it been long enough for a new one in this series?) [70%] [50% it'll be Paper Mario]

- Wii Fit Plus Q4 (With the Japanese market slowing and Wii Fit being a huge driver almost a year and half ago in Japan, I think it would be a good time for a sequel) [80%]

- Kid Icarus/PilotWings Q4 (One of Factor 5's Wii titles, will it be one of these titles?) [40%]

Other notes..

- NST have not released a game since 2006 so any of the above titles could make way for a new title from them.

- I don't think Retro Studios will have anything to show until E3 2010

- Nd Cube, Ambrella and Genius Sonority are small devs and most likely are looking at Japan centric titles

- Monolith Soft are making an RPG title which could hit at the end of the year but I'd expect it to be Japan only

- Every other dev are working on DS I'd assume..

Also I have an issue with you Tres, you said you expected NoA to bring over Sin & Punishment in Q3 but you think they'll not promote it. How has that got anything to do with you enjoying a game that is clearly an upstream effort? Don't start with qualifying games that come out by marketing etc.. It doesn't take away the fact a dev was devoted to the game for two years and the game was then localised for you to enjoy.

Have a look at the last 3 years.. and look further back in the other post I made and you can see which teams are obviously due to release a new title. Stop with the bullshit.

I never said that about S&P. I said Q4 and never talked about marketing, maybe you confused my post with Savior's.

Plus Endless Ocean 2 isn't confirmed for the USA and Pikmin 3, well no one ever hinted at a 2009 release so scratch that. There's a lot of, not trying to be rude, wishful thinking from your part. You know that NoA is a shadow of it former self, I'd even make a bet that none of those games you listed will be released here, outside of the ones I think will be.
