Wow.

You are really defending this game to the death.

The game looks muddy. There are little Zombies on screen. The little bit of Zombies on screen have circle shadows.

There is no way to paint this good.

Because I stated it wasn't possible for this game to suck...

Oh wait, I did not. You people are claiming it's not possible fix this.

It is possible to fix but have they given us any reason to assume they have?  So far it's been lackluster trailer after lackluster trailer hoping to sell the game purely on controls and Wii userbase.

I'm not assuming they have. I'm just stating it's possible. We don't know what the developers are doing exactly, and lackluster trailers are no reason to assume they won't.

The game could well be ass, but we don't have any more reason to assume it will be just because the trailers don't blow away those who already decided they hated it.

My thinking (and I know it can be wrong) is that if they did have a solution to this problem they would have let us know by now.  So far they've told us they plan to have a lot of zombies on the screen and the game offers new controls.

This is all I've seen so far:

  • They've gone from 10 zombies on screen at once to 20
  • The game just doesn't in any way look good
  • It has new controls similar to RE4
  • It features the same entertaining character as the 360 version

Did I miss anything?

I can forgive the game looking bad (though I don't personally like it) and the new controls do sound good, but they're fucking up the basic gameplay of the game.  You keep tell us it's possible blah blah blah but what's that old saying?  I can wish in one hand and shit in the other, what will fill up first?

Right now I can only base my decisions on the game on what they show me.  So far they've shown me new controls, seriously downgraded graphics, and seriously decreased number of zombies.  I know all these other things are possible but so far this is what we've seen and this is what we're supposed to be our decision on.

If we aren't supposed to base any opinions on trailers why even bother showing them?

I'm pretty sure what DMesiterJ means is it's always Dead Rising. You're not defending all games that get trashed based on their trailers, it's just a constant Dead Rising defense from you. A lot of us see this. You go out of your way to create topics to paint the game in a positive light and spend the rest of the topic defending it against people that think it looks like garbage. If you don't want people to judge the game based on trailers, screen shots, etc. then why do you keep posting them? It's to the point now where I think you enjoy the negative responses you get on this game. Basically if you're not entirely sold on the game yourself, then why are you on a crusade to constantly defend it's honor?

The thing was DJ chimed in with a point I had already stated (not as many zombies), one that was irrelevant (circular shadows), and one that was obvious (not looking as good as the 360 version).

That's not defending a game. That's attacking BS.

I'm not defending the game. I'm calling out people for bashing it for dumb reasons. You have at least something, Onyxmeth. What others are claiming is that the fundamentals magically are tied to being exactly like the 360 version. This is what TV Tropes calls "They changed it, now it sucks".

I understand the game would suck, just not for the reasons they claim.

Attacking the games on looks.

what do you care if someone hates the shadows?  I admit it's a silly thing to hate but if that's his gripe about the game let it be his gripe.

Attacking the amount of zombies on screen.

So since you mentioned it in your opening post it's now against the rules to mention it aftwards?  Also, is it really a dumb reason to not be too excited about the game since one of the fundamental pillars of the game isn't so much there?  I'm not griping it's not exactly like the 360 version, I'm griping that a game about fending off hordes of zombies doesn't have hordes of zombies.

"So since you mentioned it in your opening post it's now against the rules to mention it aftwards?"

I didn't he couldn't mention that. Just that it was redundant. Onyxmeth mentioned it, but in a context that was other than just blind bashing.

EDIT: Please note the bold part. I did not mean what I accidentally wrote a minute ago.

"I'm griping that a game about fending off hordes of zombies doesn't have hordes of zombies."

That's also a legitimate concern. It's not insurmountable, but that remains to be seen. The game could very well rise or fall depending on if they get around that or not.

I would personally increase the re-spawn rate to ensure that even if the horde isn't large, it's not getting any smaller. But that's just me.

Lets just pretend the max number of zombies is 20.  I'm not saying that's what it will be, but from the trailers that isn't a bad number to assume.  For the purpose of this, it doesn't really matter what the number is.

Anyways, I run around and corral 20 zombies.  Anyone who has played Dead Rising on the 360 knows you can survive 20 zombies so that isn't a problem.

With these 20 zombies chasing me I back myself into a corner in Al Fresca plaza.  I run though that small horde, turn around, and then run backwards.  I have 20 zombies in view so no more are going to spawn and since I'm running backwards they aren't going to leave view.

I now have a free ticket to walk anywhere I want in that area without worrying about zombies as long as I don't kill those 20 following me.

I really doubt they will have that little. They said they were shooting for 100 on screen, which would likely mean 200-300 in an area. They may not get that much, but there are a couple of shots in the trailer which have more than 20 on screen.
