Because the first Samurai Warriors sold 1 million on the PS2 in Japan alone. And this is just a spinoff of Dynasty Warriors. Japan eats that shit up.
If/when it does well, Dynasty Warriors will surely follow because it's not doing spectacular on PS360 and Koei and keep running back to the PS2 with ports forever to make their money's worth.

Look, that info in on the very site you are posting.
So how many hack and slash type games does this make for koei then? 50? 60? seriously they know how to milk this kind of thing. Samurai Warriors, Dynasty Warriors, whatever the one is that combines both of them, its crazy.
I still dont get it how Koei make these games and somehow appeal to the public even theyre mostly the same. I admit I dont like these games, but since its the japanese userbase I guess its a big news on Japan.
end of core gaming days prediction:
E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced
E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.
E3 2010- Tape runs out

I mixed Samurai Warriors and Samurai Shodown. It is a big deal.

I don't think people are seeing the point of why this is rather big.
In Japan, Samurai Warriors is the same as gundam and monster hunter. Very mediocre games that sell like hotcakes because of the names attached to the disc (except monster hunter, I don't get the obsession there). This means alot to the Wii as it'll be another big selling 3rd party title.
Honestly, I don't care about Samurai Warriors, I'm more interested in the next iteration of Dynasty Warriors (hoping Koei may finally give us a next gen experience).

Before ask that I try to find them but only one game have sales SW2: xtreme legends
The Samurai and the DW franchises are on the decline.
Personally I bought DW 4-5 and SM1 for the PS2 but didn't even buy DW6 on the PS3.
I find every iteration of the game adds very little and the combat mechanics in DW6 are so simple and stupid I really don't feel like playing the game....
Those franchises are a good example of a publisher milking a franchise like mad and adding very little content or innovation every iteration...
