Forums - Nintendo - Sonic Chronicles first impressions

You should really play Sonic Chronicles. If you fight enemies you don't level up and you don't get money from battles so you can't buy stuff. That's going against the logic of RPGs, isn't it?

Also, it feels like a Square-Enix RPG in that it is so boring that I feel like stopping to play it before I finish it. Is it really so hard to believe for you that Bioware made a game which is broken?

I'll probably wind up picking up a DS (after a few other things) and hopefully with Black Sigil (it will EPIC!).  I may pick up Sonic Chronicles at that time.  As for logic in RPGs... I'm becoming happier and happier the less I can apply it.  I'm kind of tired of the same old stuff.  If a game is going to try something a bit differently, I'm fine with that.  It may or may not work out, but there's no reason not to keep an open mind.  I don't know if the game is really as hard as you think it is or if you're just missing some part of the gameplay or what or if it might actually be a slightly less than stellar game.  I'm giving Bioware the benefit of the doubt though.

And yes, it is hard to believe Bioware made a broken game.  Bethesda or Obsidian?  Sure.  Bioware?  No.

Anyway, if you're not having fun then stop playing.  That's the purpose of gaming.  Ebay it to someone who will enjoy it and buy something you'd enjoy more.

The game isn't really hard (most of the difficulty comes from stupid design choices) and I already figured out how to play it. Avoid all regular battles which makes perfect sense.

You know, avoiding battles might explain the whole "not leveling/gaining money" part.  Just saying...

Oh come on, I have seen you pulling off this kind of stuff way better.

There there.

Just finish the game, speed run it once or twice, throw it on a shelf, and go back to Mario Kart like you normally do.

Also... Black Sigil will be epic.

Oh, and why is Black Sigil epic? I haven't followed it much.

Hmm, very interesting WoW. A JRPG from a western developer. Contradictory I know.

Sounds like the game is a bit rushed.

I've been wondering why Western developers don't try to develop JRPGs more often. I think JRPGs should have a little more western flavor to counterbalance the effeminate characters and who would do a better job of doing that then a Western developer(even though they wouldn't be caught dead putting effeminate characters in their games). I can see why Japanese developers aren't making WRPGs though. Have anyone of these developers ever heard of Anachronox? An American developed JRPG(and for the PC I might add).

PLAY Anachronox

Its a pc exclusive RPG with a turn-based battle system similar to JRPG's. Its so awesome!

Just a warning for those that do want to play Anachronox:the game starts off kind of slow but apparently(I never played the game) gets really good once the story gets going.

Unfortunately, if you like multiple ending, dialouge trees, and real time combat and hate linear storytelling, and turn based combat, this game isn't for you.
