No one would take that bet because it is insane....oh wait, you mean in a year for the PS3, but compared to now for the X360. (that makes more sense)
Well the Christmas period does wonders for old games catching up to 1 million, so the PS3 will have gained at least 15 more million seller by then is my guess, but no it's won't get to the 43 the X360 has now.

There is the other factor that X360 was the only console on the market before though, so it had time to rack up a few sellers before PS3 started, and then it was a healthy competition against the PS3 getting it's own as fast because of the multiplatform games.


@Godot... the Poll is about lifetime sales though, not just the holiday.

That's why it's shocking to me that people think that LBP is gonna outsell Gears 2 in the immediate future.

They did this with Lair, Haze, MGS4 and now LBP. I am not surprised

GT 5 will sell at least 10 million. by the time its released, the ps3 install base will be in the 23-25 million stage.. and we all know how gt3 on ps2 went.

You can't base it on a game that's sold 7 million in under a year. That's impressive. City Folk will easily pass the 4 million mark. It will probably finish in the 6-7 million range when all is said in done.

Definitely the most random post in this thread... Tekken has absolutely no chance of getting close to the games on this list. Here's the sales trajectory of the Tekken games:

Tekken (PS) 3.18m
Tekken 2 (PS) 5.45m
Tekken 3 (PS) 6.91m
Tekken Tag Tournament (PS2) 3.94m
Tekken 4 (PS2) 3.31m
Tekken 5 (PS2) 1.65m

This franchise is a shadow of its former glory. Might as well argue that Street Fighter will be a 5m seller, since Street Fighter II was all the rage in 1992... Anyway, will Tekken 6 sell a million copies? Yes. Will it be one of the top 10 sellers of the generation? Umm - no.

Hard to say what games like Wii Music and Animal Crossing will do. Probably better to just "wait and see" on them.

Incidentally, not one person has mentioned Guitar Hero IV (or whatever it's called), which will 100% assuredly be on the multi-platform top ten within six months.

"At least" is a bit of an overstatement considering GT4 didn't manage it, nor did GT2, and GT3 was bundled a lot to make it up to 14-15 million.

I would say GT5 is the only PS3 game (known about) that has any chance of passing 10 million, but I think it more likely it will end around 8-9 million, and i would give a full range of 7-11 million which I think it is sure to be in.

GT4 has sold over 10mil copies, VG just has incomplete data for its sales.  The game has even sold around 200k units this fiscal year.
