Art Style™ is a new game series from Nintendo, combining deep game play with atmospheric flair and simple, elegant controls that anyone can pick up and enjoy, creating an experience focused purely on fun and engaging game play.

Explore the universe like never before in Art Style: ORBIENT. Take control of gravity and anti-gravity and carefully maneuver your small star through 50 stages set in multiple galaxies. Collide with other stars to absorb them and make your own star expand in size, or capture the stars in your orbit and have them become your satellites. Space isn’t empty, though, and you’ll have to avoid bumping into obstacles or getting pulled into a black hole. If you feel like relaxing while still being challenged, this is the game for you. Its combination of simple controls, atmospheric sound and unique environment make for an experience unlike any other.

WiiWare's Art Style: ORBIENT

In Orbital the gameplay is the same, players start off as the smallest body in a solar system, and must use the gravity of the other bodies to move around (pressing the A button to attract towards objects and pressing the B button to repel off them) to collide with the next largest body, combining to create one larger body. This is repeated until the player captures the sun in the solar system. The player then moves on to the next level.

If he compare Orbient to Orbital, we can see the core gameplay is the same with a graphical upgrade and a few added effects.

Now lets look what the other two WiiWare could end up looking like by their previous bit Generations incarnations:



CUBELLO

(Nintendo, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone, 600 Wii Points)
Release Dates: America 13/10/2008, Japan TBA, PAL TBA

Art Style: CUBELLO mixes the strategy and feel of a traditional puzzle game with the precision and reflexes required in a shooter. As each stage begins, various colored cubes form into one large object called a Cubello, which floats and rotates as you play. Launch additional cubes from your magazine and try to connect four or more of the same color, removing them from the Cubello and eventually leaving only its core. Take on the challenge of either Stage or Endless mode and watch what happens when Bonus Time is activated. The straightforward controls and goal ensure that anyone can play, while offering enough depth that even advanced players will find themselves quickly addicted to the unique world of Art Style: CUBELLO.

in this mixture of puzzle game and shooter.


WiiWare's Art Style: CUBELLO

Compared to Coloris were the player must eliminate coloured squares by altering the color of other squares to make them the same colour as the squares nearby. There are two different game modes: clear mode and score mode. In clear mode you must eliminate a certain number of squares (depending on the difficulty level) before moving on to the next level. In score mode you must eliminate squares to achieve a high score.

ROTOHEX

(Nintendo, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 600 Wii Points)
Release Dates: America 27/10/2008, Japan TBA, PAL TBA

Use colored triangle panels to create a vibrant mosaic of stained glass in Art Style: ROTOHEX. As triangles fall from the top of the screen, rotate them to group six panels of the same color and create a matching hexagon (HEX). Once the HEX has been formed, it will disappear, allowing the existing panels to shift and more to fill the playing field. Two different styles of intuitive controls and the clear-cut goal allow you to focus solely on the game play—which is vital, as the playing field will be full of panels before you know it. With multiple modes available (unlock more as you progress farther in SOLO mode), special item panels at your disposal, and the ability to play cooperatively or competitively with a friend, there will always be another HEX to create!

WiiWare's Art Style: ROTOHEX

In Dialhex you rotate coloured triangles until six of them form a hexagon of a solid colour, which will then disappear from the playing field and allow other pieces to fall into place. The player controls the outline of a hexagon which is positioned using the control pad, and uses the A and B buttons or the L/R triggers to rotate any triangles contained within counter-clockwise, and clockwise, respectively. The triangles are unaffected by gravity as long as they can be rotated by the player. If the player moves his hexagon so the triangles are outside its boundaries, they will immediately drop and slide as far down as they can go. The primary objective of the game is to form a certain number of hexagons of each color of triangle, at which point you go to the next level, with a new colour of triangle added.

Occasionally, a flashing Triangle will fall onto the screen. If the triangle is flashing white, then putting this triangle into a hexagon will eliminate all like-coloured triangles on the screen. If the flashing triangle is flashing black, then putting this triangle into a hexagon opens a hole in the bottom of the playfield for a few seconds which will cause all triangles in that area to fall out of the playfield as if pulled by gravity.

Three of these Art Style games coming in the next month?

Maybe I should be glad there isn't a storage solution. It's one of the few things holding be back from spending Wii points in a frenzy.

@TWRoO: You have two actions with gravity, pull and repel, then you increase your mass by colliding with the other stellar masses (you can pull smaller objects to orbit around you).

Seems like no one is interested in these... (the majority of the post are from me)

Nevertheless, updated first post with CUBELLO's release in the US, which has had a revamp from its GBA predecessor. Also the great World of Goo is out and about for both PC and WiiWare. Go download both of these games if you can, they seem great.

i never heard of any of these games on the GBA but orbient has been receiving pretty good reviews so far. i may pick it up later but i have too many games i'm in the middle of atm.



These Art Style games are awesome and cheap.
