Forums - Nintendo - OCTOBER 2nd!!! Nintendo event predictions

1 day to go ...

Around the Network

This is what I realistically think will occur:

Wii

- new info/trailer for wii sports resort & wii music

- wii motionplus (price, announcement of more compatible games)

- new info/trailer for Animal Crossing

- american release date for D:DoC

DS

- american release date for Pokemon Platinum

- denial of redesign

- possible price cut (japan only)

I expect there to be talk of 'blue ocean' and 'disruptive product' and subtle bragging about sales/money printing. Hopefully there will be a new wii game aimed at the core gamers (Pikmin, old franchise renewed, Factor 5 project???) announced and a new game for DS as well (DK, Starfox, NSMB2, F-Zero???) and a release date for Fire Emblem DS outside japan. I don't expect anything big third party wise, a tidbit of info here or there. I expect third partys to do thier thing at TGS.

So you've already probably heard about the apparent revival of an old franchise. Obvious candidates being Punch-Out and Kid Icuras.

I'm going to go ahead and call Punch-Out. We can all probably agree that both are in developement, and with the imminent arrival of Motion+, I can see PO being a big demonstrator of it.

Dont bet on it you will might be disappointed. Have you noticed that only gamekyo announced the news? I dont even seen the news in Kotaku...

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

E3 2010- Tape runs out

Because it's not news, just a word on the grapevine.

I'm just saying, if there is going to be a revival, my bets are formly on Punch Out.

I'd like to go on record with my prediction before the conference

First, there's NO WAY they will f*ck up like they did at E3--they were noticeably shocked and caught off-guard with all the backlash, and there was MAJOR damage control afterwards.  With that in mind, the only casual game that will be there is Wii Music.

Then, they'll obviously show Animal Crossing (a very popular game on both sides)

Reggie alluded to knowing exactly what the storage solution would be, meaning it's hammered out.  It WILL be announced tomorrow.

Release dates for Disaster, Fatal Frame, and Pokemon Platinum (NA/Europe)

There will be EITHER a video of Pikmin or Star Fox

One new IP from Nintendo will be announced

Publisher announced for The Conduit

Demos for The Conduit, Fatal Frame, and Disaster

Something from Square Enix (not necessarily Kingdom Hearts, but they've stated their dedication to all platforms, and they don't have anything big announced for Wii)

If Square doesn't have a big game announcement to close the event out, there will be a teaser for EITHER Mario or Motion-plus-enhanced Zelda.

Also, I'd say there's a 50% chance of the new DS model being announced.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

If Nintendo does not show something big here, then I will be vary dissapointed. They showed nothing at E3 (we knew everything they told us) and we all wanted some hardcore game that was never shown. So I hope there is something new and fresh that just comes out

thekitchensink, I doubt anything you just said will happen. The only sure thing is Wii Music.
The rest has a 2% chance of happening.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Fullfilled Prophecies

Why are you doing this to yourself, man? Remember, the secret to happiness is low expectations (and your own bag of chips).

Wii Music, Animal Crossing are givens. Fatal Frame and especially Disaster are pretty likely (for the NA conference). The Conduit might also show up at the NA one (High Voltage is full of attention whores...). I'm skeptical that we'll see anything about Mario, Zelda, or Pikmin (too soon), and Star Fox will probably defer to Kid Icarus or Punch Out!

I have no idea what they're thinking on the storage front, or the new DS.

But again, don't set yourself up for disappointment. It makes it easier to be pleasantly surprised.

@trestres: So you do not think they will show:

-Animal Crossing, which is their biggest first-party title this holiday
-The storage solution that is obviously coming soon
-Release dates for three games that are already finished and just need localizing
-A single new first-party game (what kind of company would hold a conference without this?)
-They won't show anything from their two biggest franchises, despite the fact that they're both confirmed to be in development
-There is is no chance of the new DS model, though we've recently heard a lot of corroborating evidence and received a bunch of 'no comments'.

I'll give you that the others are just my predictions, but I put thought into this rather than just hoping.

Nintendo will confirm that the world will end in 2012, referencing correlations between localizing Wii Fit into Latin and Mayan star charts.
