Farcry has the looks. Gears and R2 will have the gameplay.

Open world shooters are a bad idea.

Honestly Far Cay 2 has impressed me by the videos more....

I usually see people getting all worked up just because somone says a game looks better than R2...guess some people can't accept others opinions (unless they're being biased to which ill understand)...

Been following FC2 for a while and honestly its looked this good for months, its only had some minor improvements. It should be interesting to see if their completely open world style ends up devolving into a tedious hike across the Jungle/Desert/Savannah between each mission or if they've found a way to make it interesting, that's my main concern for the game.

I normally hate these debates. But I will point out that although you state R2 is doing more onscreen, Far Cry 2's draw distance is a hell of alot more. If anything Far Cry 2's engine is processing more, better physics (blasts from grenades extra effect the environment spot on) Realistically behaving fire, Changing weather effects, night and day cycles(which means constant real time light changes, R2 is preloaded levels) 10km draw distance, all whilst looking photo realistic.

This following Direct Feed trailer should provide an end to this arguement. To let you know there is no CGI in Far Cry 2.

i prefer shooters where the story isnt so free roam... does anyone no what i mean? like i bought oblivion and the story is just so long i didnt finish it (i know it isnt a shooter but its my only example of a game i havent finished)

Oblivion's actual story is only around 20-25 hours long if you don't deviate too much from it.

Far Cry 2 looks nice but I can't help but think it is going to get overlooked.

As far as multi plat competition goes it is up against CoD5 and Fallout 3 at the least.

The Far Cry brand has its work cut out.

Yea I'm the same way thats y comparing R2 to FC2 to me is a no brainer (plus I like fighting bosses :) ). Anyways, like I've said many times, FC2 looks amazing and is the best looking console game to date, and wats crazy about it is that it's multi plat. Hopefully, they don't mess up the PS3 version. Is there going o be multiplayer in this game? IDK it doesn't look like it will, and if it doesn't , hopefully the campaign won't be short.

I dont think its the best looking game on consoles, but it certainly looks very good.

I'll reserve my judgment further when I get hands on, on it.
