Forums - PC Discussion - Turbo lulz for people who want to upgrade easily/buy a cheap gaming PC.

If you have a newish but store bought PC and you want to get into PC gaming on 19-22" monitors heres the card for you. Its the ATI HD 4670 and it packs 2* the shading power and 3* the texturing ability of the Xbox 360 all for a RRP of $80. It packs about the same punch as an HD 3850.

Heres the review

Heres the card on New Egg - an awesome dual slot, quiet card for $80.

Essentially whats great about this is the fact that you can just plug it in and it will work. You don't have to worry if your powersupply can handle it, just gotta have a PCI-E slot and most people with a PC thats 3 years old or less should have one. This is probably the best mid range/entry level graphics card I have seen in a LONG time and its a cinch to snap one into your system, just have to peel away the metal cover on the back of your computer and screw in one screw.

If you need a new PC heres an awesome choice.

Compaq Presario SR5610F

Specs

  • AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+(2.5GHz)
  • 3GB DDR2 800
  • 320GB SATA 7200RPM
  • Vista Premium
  • $399

So if you combine the card with the PC you get a fantastically fast system for easy on the cheap and you'll be lulz all the way to your first Spore creature.

So yep theres a gaming PC in there for $480 which doesn't require you to build it yourself.

I don't understand the "I'm an nvidia guy" stuff going around. ATI currently offers graphic cards that are both cheaper and more powerful than Nvidia's.

ATI is the way to go.

Any idea on the power requirements? I know one of the problems I see with some premades is the power supply tends to be just enough to keep the thing running. That's the only thing I'd worry about, but other than that not bad considering the cash paid.

Its probably 250-300w which is fine. Read this - http://www.anandtech.com/casecoolingpsus/showdoc.aspx?i=3413

Then you'll understand.

Taking sides on the GPU market is the same as taking sides in the console war. Stupid, pointless, and the fan is hgenerally a waste of everyone else's time.

That said very nice deal.
