Another fan not liking this game. Ive never played a Castlevannia game and this might just be the game to convince me too. Which was his plan by making this game.

Honestly do you people think it looks bad or just wanna hate it because its not traditional?

Who the hell notices that kinda crap and who cares? Most fans of castlvannia are already writing this game off anyways like Roma. (Dunno if hes a fan of the castlevannia series though) But other definetly.

I do. So does anybody who isn't blind. If you don't see the difference between "Aeon" there and every other Castlevania character ever designed - I'm not going to finish that. You would, trust me. The weapons are traditionally realistic, as are the modes of dress. It's easy to tell.

I said in the post that you quoted that I kinda care.

Who do you think "he" is? Igarashi? The Death Note artist?

Like I said, I think the game looks fun, in a Smash Bros/Power Stone sorta way. I'll probably even buy it. But the art is hideous.

To you, yes. Some other people might like it, though I'd assume you're going to say those people are wrong because their opinion isn't the same as yours.

I was mainly talking about the weapons you were saying looking unrealistic and like they'll break.

Art style/character design (whatever) is completly different. I personally think it looks good. Not great but good not hideous like you do.

For the last 15 years i've played fighting games the most. 2D ones, 3D ones...there are very few fighters i can't hold my own in and quite a few where i can play extremely well.

While i'm not thrilled that castlevania is being made in to a cartoony fighter game that is a parody of itself...mostly since its actually a bloody horror game that used to be the one of the best franchises around...that has nothing to do with me not liking the trailer above.

My problemis that it just looks like ass...as a fighter. the graphics have some colorful effects, but they are quite terrible even by Wii standards. The gameplay doesn't look balanced at all. It almost seems like they are going after the mashy-mashy...smash brothers crowd.

If you mean the weapons, what I said still stands. About the closest things we've had to the silliness of Aeon's sword is probably the Claim Solhais from Aria of Sorrow, and it was more like a gigantic indestructible meat cleaver made of light.

Part of the problem I have with the art comes from its context more than the art itself - if this were a Kingdom Hearts game? Whoa, those are pretty cool designs! In a lot of contexts, they make a lot of sense. This looks like a really good-looking anime cast, even. Bunch of wizards and time magicians and so forth. I can dig that. There is a lot of very real artistic merit in these designs. It's the context that matters.

Castlevania doesn't take place in the modern day, it doesn't take place in Japan, it doesn't take place in a strictly fantasy setting. It's rooted in European storytelling and its visual design tends to be informed by actual European historical trends, which is why Leon looked like this:

See what I mean? There's a lot of dissonance there. Leon has a very anime, bishounen flair to him, but most of his design is still grounded in reality or an approximation thereof.

EDIT: Changed the picture of Leon to reflect his in-game design

What you said only stands for you and the people who don't like the designs. As intelligent as you are, your opinion doesn't reign supreme over everybody else's. You do not determine nor decide what a game's style should adhere to in order to be something that isn't horrible. Don't try and shove your perspective down other people's throats as if your honest opinion was better than theirs. It's great that you have your own opinion about this, but you don't necessarily have to slam people down with it just because you, from what I have seen, appear to believe that your view on this is the only correct one.

Now, I don't want to come across as antagonistic here. Please don't misunderstand: I'm not disparaging the opinions of other people, I am only explaining my own position. When I call the art in Judgement hideous, I do not preface it with an "in my opinion" because it's already understood that that's my opinion. Beauty or hideousness cannot be an objective thing.

I just thought it would be better to explain myself in full and present my reasoning, so that it does not seem like I am coming out of nowhere with this.

I apologize for the misunderstanding, though I do not see much of a point in explaining yourself in full when this could have been avoided by prefacing it with an "in my opinion." I suppose I only have myself to blame for not being able to perceive opinions over the internet without a blatant reminder.

In any case, I can see where you're coming from, though I have to disagree. The change is, in a way, refreshing, at least when I view it from a more open-minded perspective. From a Castlevania perspective, though, I completely agree, though I've chosen to scrap that perspective due to the game's departure from traditional Castlevania gameplay.
