I actually love my PS3-- it's an incredible media player.

Maybe they're trying to keep people from overhyping it.

I don't see why these games always get comparisons. It's certain, to me, that PS3 fans certainly see Gears as a threat, and they've pegged Resistance to be the counter to that game. I just wish that this psychological need didn't involve so much Gears flaming.

Might as well have called this topic, "Resistance 2, better than Gears." The first pic on the OP is a huge cherrypicked photo of Gears 2.

You know how New Jersey has an inferiority complex about New York City? Because of how the Playstation 3 was percieved in the beginning, certain fans are always gonna feel the need to compare it and present it as a better alternative than the 360. It's the same thing.

If Gears was on the PS3 and R2 was on the 360, you'd have these same people touting Gears 2, and flaming Resistance 2. That's what I believe, anyway.

We need to stop comparing these games based on still screenshots. One of them could very well suck, but in all likelyhood, they'll both be really good, with one slightly better than the other. Doesn't matter which. 2 great games, no need to marginalize one for your own personal psychological needs.

This is a tangent, but my dads actually getting one this christmas, because his DVD player is going out in his living room.

I might sleep over for a few days and rent WKS or something.

*sigh* I wonder if its possible to block his "create a new thread" button. Look parrot, calm it down with these "Game A is better than Game B because I'm backing up Game A." It doesn't matter if ur not talking about gameplay, sales, graphics, it doesn't matter. Only 2 things can result from creating threads like this and both are bad. Scenario A, said game does indeed look better than the 360's big game and everybody is gonna hate sony fanboys because they are acting smug and arrogant, like Sony did back in the PS2. Scenario B, said game does not look better than the 360's big game and everybody is gonna hate sony fanboys because they continue to make stupid threads like these and are blinded because of the constant wearing of the fanboy goggles. Either way, ur gonna make people hate sony fanboys, It's getting so ridiculous that even I - and I like the PS3 alot - am starting to hate u Sony fanboys.

On topic: Gears 2 looks better, although R2 made a BIG jump (and in my eyes made a bigger jump from R1 to R2, but it still didn't manage to pass Gears 2, unless they are still polishing ALOT).

Gears looks better. It's not even close really.
FarCry 2 and Uncharted also looks better than R2.

Gears of war looks a lot better i mean you used probly the worst picture from gears to compare 2 ressistance but still it looks better =). But what really should matter is the gameplay right?

I've also been very distraught with his threads lately. The all seem very entheustically pro-Sony with a lot of passive-agressive 360 hate, and PS3 exclusive superiority.

They just don't break any specific forum rules.

That said, @OP, just how many posts can we make about Resistance 2 >>> Gears 2 before the subject gets boring and the game overhyped?

Frankly, at this point, these threads are just serving to increase our post count, and repeat what's already been said better, yesterday, and better than that the day before. They're repetitive, redundant, and tedious.

So, how many more of these meaningless, redundant, Gears hate/Resistance love threads are we gonna have to set through before you tell us to "eat f'n crow and die in your sleep because PS3 exclusives rule due to power of the cell," because if this could be the last one, I'd confess to murder end the cycle.

I've heard so much about this game, and how it looks better than Gears 2, and I've seen these screens posted by you and the other guy with the Hard Rain avatar so many times, that I swear I'm starting to hate freakin' Resistance 2, and I liked it at first! I was going to consider playing it on day! I still will, but geez, lighten up.

You know why you don't see a Gears 2 post that often(unless it's from a PS3 fanboy, trying to hate)? Because unbelievably overhyping a game is not fun. It's boring. It's childish. It's what you do when you have nothing else to do except try to stir up fanboy drama and piss off the "competition."

I completely disagree. While Resistance is technically superior, the gloomy/dark/dim atmosphere in Gears gives it a win.

I've tried to explain myself with words, but perhaps a photo would convey my feelings about this thread more effectively.

Bah, I think that's a fanperson talking point(not by you, but just something you've heard and accepted based off biased judgements). They try to make us accept that R2 is technically better because they say it is enough, maybe we'll start to believe the generally accepted truth.

Fact is, most people who saw Gears 2 in action were blown away. Apparently it not only manages to look that good, but also keeps a steady frame-rate during horde-mode, and with destrubtable stuff, ect, ect. IGN explained it pretty well. Either way, the only way we'll know which one is technically better is when we play it.

Still screenshots show us nothing, especially when the textures and games aren't finished.
