My thoughts on why such an innovative game like this isn't being pushed:

Microsoft is pushing Banjo and Gears 2. Sony is pushing LittleBigPlanet and Resistance 2.

I have a theory on why Microsoft and Sony are pushing those games instead of Fracture. Microsoft and Sony are publishing those games and Lucas Arts is publishing Fracture, so it's Lucas Arts' responsibility to market it.

Oh and I hated the Fracture demo. The whole rising and lowering the earth ended up being just some gimmick. There are arrows pointing you to where you need to deform the earth, and it's all done in a grid-like fashion, so it never really feels like you have any control over how the earth is deformed. It's either up or down in a mound. There's a grenade that will make a spike that comes from underneath the ground. I was hoping, with this technology, something I was a bit more in control of.

You're right about the publishing thing. Oops.

The arrows were there because it was the tutorial. Later on in the demo, they weren't used.

And I really felt like I had a lot of control. Like I said, you can't deform everything, but I was impressed. Yes, it's either mound up or down, but creating a blockade was easy. Forming a wall is easy. I really give the team credit. It took a lot of work to create something with so much flexibility.

What I mean is, that's all the deforming was good for. Blockades, walls, etc. Basically defense. Why couldn't the crux of the entire game revolve around this deforming? You attack, defend, solve puzzles, build bridges, etc. etc. with only the abilities you have of transforming dirt and rock. It seems gimmicky because it's still basically a Gears of War wannabe, shooting guns with terrain deformations as cover instead of the apocalyptic landscape GOW uses.

I liked very much about waepons and battleground..
But OMG how boring enemies AND main charachter!
Story will suck.
Multiplayer could be fuun.

Take my love, take my land..

I would buy it later on at the price of 30$. I thought the concept was pretty cool, I can see how people would think it was a bit gimmicky though....

the demo was okay.nothing too good about it.AI was stupid, graphics reminded me of Haze(not great).but the terrain deformation was cool at first, but it wasnt that great.cutscenes need tons of work, they were just bad.my overall impression was meh.i would imagine the multiplayer would be fun however.

I liked the demo...but this and red faction will be left fighting for scraps after Gears 2 and R2 are done.

Innovative??
There's a wall conveniently blocking your path, make a hill with your hill-making gun and jump over it.

It's just the latest gimmicky FPS and it belongs in the bargain-bin pile with Haze, Shadowrun, Turok, Blacksite, TimeShift, etc.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

I finished the demo and have absolutely no desire to play the final game. The terraforming aspects are extremely gimmicky. There's almost no tactical reason to use it except when for the situations the game wants you to use it. For the most part, it's just sort of there, moving the ground up and down when grenades are thrown but it doesn't really affect the battle ever. It just makes it seem like you are fighting on water. Especially for the last fight where you have to hold your position, then make your way to the dropship.

I actually thought the demo was pretty fun myself. I have my eye out for it. It's on the "must prove itself, but I'll wait and see."

I'll give it a rental, either way.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Actually, it's a lot more tactical than that. Instead of being restricted to one method of getting past a wall, designers said that gamers will be able to apply strategy. Do you want to go over the wall, or underneath it? Just because you couldn't do something in the demo, doesn't mean it won't be applied in the full game. Also, deformation can be used to lift platforms for bridges and ramps (as seen in the demo).

Also, think about combat. Raise the ground to force a man upward and crush him under a ceiling. Creating a ditch beneath him and toss a grenade in.

And it's a lot more innovative than run and gun (I'm looking at you Gears and Resistance).

Looks like Haze to me...
With the huge competition in shooters in the next 2 months it's unlikely this game will do any good..

bingo,,,,that's exactly what I  thought,,it reminds me so much of haze.with similar graphics to mass effect,,,,yea ,it's love child of haze with mass effect(graphics department).

if you like Fracture ,you will also like Haze ,,,unfortunately I don't like them that much.

overall 7/10.

much better shooters are coming out,,R2,Soccom,far cry ,dead space,COD
