You're right about the publishing thing. Oops. The arrows were there because it was the tutorial. Later on in the demo, they weren't used. And I really felt like I had a lot of control. Like I said, you can't deform everything, but I was impressed. Yes, it's either mound up or down, but creating a blockade was easy. Forming a wall is easy. I really give the team credit. It took a lot of work to create something with so much flexibility.

What I mean is, that's all the deforming was good for. Blockades, walls, etc. Basically defense. Why couldn't the crux of the entire game revolve around this deforming? You attack, defend, solve puzzles, build bridges, etc. etc. with only the abilities you have of transforming dirt and rock. It seems gimmicky because it's still basically a Gears of War wannabe, shooting guns with terrain deformations as cover instead of the apocalyptic landscape GOW uses.
