Forums - Sony - Why the hype about Killzone 2?

Killzone is the best looking game to date and its still 5-6 months away. The game has perfect gameplay and amazing level design and some of the best mo-cap and death scenes ever seen to date in a game. The online looks amazing and there is a crazy amount of depth to it.

And the last Killzone game received a 9 from IGN and an 8.3 from Gamespot. It would of been rated pretty good overall on GR but a handful of reviewers decided to give it some crazy low scores.

Sure the graphics look good but it is rare that a game improves hugely from number one to number two. MGS improved slightly (hard to improve on MGS1) but often number two is worse than number one (Red Alert, Devil May Cry, Soul Calibur)

So why all of the hype? Resistance was an 8.6 and 9.1, and a solid formula for a game. R2 is looking to improve on all of these. Why are so many people saying KZ2 is going to 'blow away all competition' and be a 'Halo-killer'?

That's only the beginning. Killzone 1 may have been mediocre...but that was due to the PS2s limitations, and GG was too ambitious. But it looks like they are capable of making a AAA game.....now just for the PS3 iteration

Im pretty sure one of the first responses sums up the question....killzone 2 has a big budget, great looking previews and much more

Yeah i don't know either, it baffles me that PS3 owners are hyphing this, the 1st one was god awful sure the graphics were great for a last-Gen console but expecting the sequel to be GOTY contender, the flagship shooter for the PS3 is beyond me...we will see feb of 2009.

Because its a blockbuster game with a huge budget.
Because its one of the best looking games to come.
Because some of the best SONY studios like Insomniac, London Studios etc. were helping with the development.
Because levels have already been played and the feedback about gameplay was very good.
Because the multiplayer looks awesome.

Yes Killzone1 sucked. We know. EVERYONE HERE KNOWS THAT. Now please make the next topic.
