great way to get yourself some negative rep.

Buy a new one at wal-mart, switch out the new ds for the old one, and return it saying that it was defective.

I don't think they give you money or even store credit, they just give u another DS in that situation if the box was already opened...

Well then u just go back the next day with the unopened box and get store credit.

Alright that's a good idea.

Besides even if they will only give you another DS, at least you'd have TWO good Ds's instead of one good DS and one broken DS.

Pssh, another anti-Nintendo post...you obviously broke your DS on purpose to give Nintendo bad press!!1

Anyway, there must be a way to get your DS shipped to Nintendo, repaired, and brought back...do you have any American friends you could ship it to, and have them do the repair process, then ship it back to you? The problem sounds like something Nintendo would fix for no charge...so all you'd probably have to pay is shipping...

I hope you are kidding about the anti-Nintendo post. When the DS died, a part of me died. I made the post to see with anyone here had a similar problem. Nintendo handhelds are tougher than Chuck Norris, Ben. Have you heard about the Gulf War survivor Gameboy (I saw it at Nintendo store on NY). My problem is very rare, but I am still depressed.  I do not think I will solve this problem without buying a new one.

The shipping price to US would be enough for a new system. Nintendo can not repair it outside US/Canada. Support in my coutry is zero. Motta Intenacional is in Panama. It is a shame but this is the first time ever that I had a problem with a Nintendo system (since Snes).
I can only blame my country for scaring Nintendo away with obscene taxes and excessive regulations. I really envy Mexico now.

Do you have relatives in US or canada?

I have a friend, but the shipping cost is the price of new DS.

Why haven't you called Nintendo yet? I would like to hear what they have to say. I realize where Panama is and it seems like it's too far to Mexico to drive. I'm a bit surprised that shipping is so expensive for you since I have shipped quite a few things from different places around the world and have not come across such high prices anywhere.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

They can ship replacements to whereever as long as there not an embargoed country, Try a calling Card so you want run up your phone bill.

This will probley be listed as Abuse though.

I have a DS Lite with well over 200 hours of play time and no broken plastic,
Search Ebay for a broken DS and use the parts on yours and put the Rest up For hard times :) Make shure they offer free Shipping in your case "Ouch"

DonWII has the best IDEA so far works well with wallmart and BestBuy :)

But with 3rd world I dont know the ends and outs of that sorry.
