Just because they are weaker than the competition does NOT make it a last gen system. It is a new system that is more powerful than Nintendo's last system, released around the same time as the competition. THAT is pretty much what a "Generation" in gaming is.
How the hell is the gamecube supposed to be in the same generation as the wii? The wii came AFTER the gamecube making it a future generation.

Think of it like people. The gamecube, xbox, ps2 all have kids. The gamecube's child is the weakest of all the kids. Does that not make him the next generation?

The definition of GENERATION does not take into account the power of the hardware.
Apple seems to come out with new generation ipods almost biyearly. Can you classify the ipod 5th generation and the 6th generation (Coincidentally 5th and 6th btw) as the same generation since it's just basically a redesign and a slight expansion in space?

In what way? MGS4, Halo 3, Gears 2, Fable 2, LBP, Resistance 2, Valkyria Chronicles, Tales of Vesperia, COD4, Burnout Paradise, Uncharted,　Fallout 3, FFXIII, FFVXIII, Star Ocean and many MANY more are only on the HD consoles. Mario and Wii Sports doesn not trump that in ANY way

Yes I do....I just listed off a bunch of games both on the console and coming up, and like I said....Mario and Wii Sports does not trump that in any way

I don't think console makers get a darn about this gen or last gen...they wanna make money...period. Nintendo can now roll wii into wii-hd customers and continue their success...unless M$ and sony copy them...lol.

Wii Sports and Mario Galaxy outsold all those on the list, at least those released. That counts as trumping.

And I was addressing your metacritic comment, which has squat to do with profitibility, as EA has proven recently. This you did not get any thread winning with that bullshit.

Mario and Sonic also outsold a lot of those games.....does that make it better? If you're telling me that because Mario Galaxy has sold like 9+ Million, it's better than all those games, I'd label you a fool. I don't care about profitability. Valkyria Chronicles probably won't make a profit, does that mean the game sucks? Mirror's Edge, Prince of Persia, and Dead Space got lost in a flood of games...does that make them any worse? Sales =/= trumping. Gaming experience = trumping and the games on the Wii don't compare to those on the HD console, whether from a technical standpoint or for simple gaming in general. 

Wii games that you all talk about are expected from Nintendo. Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc.....and a few good 3rd party games here and there, but since that is the case, why is it that the general consensus is PS2 > GC or PS1 > N64. GC and 64 had all those staple Nintendo franchises plus some decent 3rd party titles, much like the situation with the Wii right now....but they still paled in comparison to the games offered by the competition. It's just that this gen, there's a sharp divide (Wii vs. HD)

Only at game 40 does the Wii's library go sub-80

Whereas at game 129 does it do the same for 360, and 84 games for the PS3. I know there are some games people will say are better than the the reviews, but in general....the numbers don't lie....if you want to make up to the bottom denominator (the PS3), it still has 44 games ranked better than the general Wii library

And hell, if you want to take it to the next level, and get rid of the multiplats shared with the Wii (like Guitar Hero and COD:WaW) and keep it HD console exclusive vs Wii exclusive...it only furthers my point.
