Forums - Nintendo - Let's assume the trolls are right, Wii is a last-gen system.

"although, @paul, it is most definitely a combination of time and power, but also change. The 32X was not thought of as next gen, but it did have next gen graphics."

But how next gen were its graphics in comparison to those of the other 32 bit consoles like the Saturn, Jaguar, and 3DO. To me it seems as if the 32x only PC Engineified the Genesis.

My most anticipated games:  Whatever Hideo Kojima is going to do next, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Gran Turismo 5, Alan Wake, Wii Sports Resort.  Cave Story Wiiware.

"You cannot measure generations from power"

ever heard the phrases the 8-bit era, the 16-bit era, and the 32-bit era?

Why did you edit my words when putting it into your text?

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS

It was quicker. What you want an answer about 10th gen pc's? Well, it would be determined by power and how far the new dual core processors and graphics processors are removed from old tandy's, pc's, and pc jr's. It's quite possible that there are the equivalent of 10th generation pc's on the market. Of course it is also possible that we are only in the third generation of pc's because for a long time there most pc processors were based off of pentium technology.

And if you're talking about the"solely part," then tell me what other features there were that distinguished 16 and 32 bit systems from 8 bit systems other than type of processor.

Now the argument can be made that the Wii is part of the current generation because it was the next Nintendo after the Gamecube. And I will admit that the whole generation thing seems like a new concept to me because I only heard the term about six months ago when I was looking up obscure consoles like Banadai's Playdia and the Supergrafx and the PC-FX and stumbled upon a website that sorted these systems into generations. However going by the old standards of grouping that I'm familiar with 8-bit, 16-bit, 32-bit, 124-bit, the Wii is more like the most powerful 124 (or Dreamcast, PS2) era console than it is like a current gen console that has multiple, unified processors, etc.

Just an observation, I'm looking at your wording not your point. I'm not saying at all that you should conform your presentations, just that it's hard for me to want to pay attention to your point if your wording emphasizes sensitivity.

But that's just me.

It's like when I see an article or thread that is marginalizing or compartmentalizing something but summates the content within a question. I just don’t bother reading the article or thread. It's just a flag or warning that says. (Stay away.)

I know you don't wanna sit there and explain it to me. Thanks for pointing it out, I didn't realize what I was doing, (and still don't) but I will try to figure it out. Is there a quote(s) in particular that would help?

So, my question is as follows: How can the wii be 'underpowered' when it's the best selling system. Obviously, for 47.1% of consumers, the Wii isn't underpowered. Maybe the PS3 and 360 are overpowered?

Wii has more 20 million sellers than PS3 has 5 million sellers.

Acolyte of Disruption

possibly shower, possibly.

although there are many reasons the wii is at #1, and power isn't the whole argument.

Of course it could be that the PS3 and 360 are also underpowered.  People are always expecting things to be like something out of 2010 a Space Odyssey or the VR room on Star Trek:  The Next Gen, and neither the 360 or PS3 duplicate such experiences.  It could be because they are weak or early seventh gen systems and the Wii is a strong sixth gen system that for  much of this console era has been cheaper than the seventh gen consoles.

If the next xbox that is coming out in 2010 is a truly powerful 7th gen console or early 8th gen console, then it will be interesting to see how the Wii holds up

since when where console generations based on graphics, its based on when they come out

Then obviously those consumers think the wii=ps360.

Actually most people that arent gamers believe the wii has the same visuals as the PS3 and 360 just at a lower price, I find that very funny.
