EA is interested in Orange Box for PS3 (my edit: EA is interested in Left4Dead for PS3)

Valve says they need to "figure out where the resources can come from".

Speaking to 1UP, Valve co-founder Gabe Newell has revealed that while Valve doesn't currently have the resources to make Left 4 Dead on PS3, its publishing partner EA is very much up for the idea.

"We don't have the bandwidth. For The Orange Box, EA did the PS3 version. They're interested in getting a PS3 version done. We just have to figure out where the resources can come from. We don't have the bandwidth. We're doing the 360 and PC version ourselves," explained Newell.

Asked if Valve would handle the development, should the game be ported to PS3, Newell stated:

"I think we need to do a good job with supporting the PS3 with the Source engine. Our engine licensees would like us to do it. I think we need to invest more in getting that in there. So I think that we'll, over time, be directly more and more supporting the PS3 as our bandwidth allows us to."

Left 4 Dead is scheduled for release in November for Xbox 360 and PC.

its about left4dead not orange box, as orange box is already out on ps3.

so do you think L4D will make its way onto ps3? i think definatly now. i predict within 6 months.

we, as in those who dont own the 360 (well i do so i guess i cant use "we" but i will anyways), can only hope it makes its way to the ps3

The PS3 port will be rubbish because EA apparently sucks at porting. I'd personally suggest getting any Valve game on the PC over any console.

looks like L4D is now in talks about a possible very now possible ps3 game.

imo L4D looks to arcady, it will be interesting to see how the single player pans out.

if it has a kinda story akin to half life it may be a winner, we will have to wait till 360 version is out to see if its any good.

EA recently confimed that they have come out leaps and bounds on thier ps3 development, and that games will have a parity now.

i expect the ps3 port to be a very good one

if valve have anything to do with the porting and what not then i will lose even more interest in this game. but saying that i aint really keen on this game anyway so.

Uh...L4D is a multiplayer-only game.  You can play by yourself with bots and call it single player, but it's not really.  It has a story but you basically find that out through the thousands of lines of dialogue you hear over the course of replaying maps over and over.

This game is more story based than TF2 or CS, but it's not Half Life...it's not a game you're going to play and then get sick of because you keep hearing the story over and over until it gets bashed into your brain.  This is an online multiplayer co-op zombie survival game that you can replay an endless amount of times...and you'll gradually pick up tidbits of the story throughout the months that you will probably play it.

But yeah, buy this game for the PC.  If you whine about PS3 or even the 360 version, it's because you didn't heed this advice.  I don't really stand by Valve quality on console games, but there isn't a damn thing you can say against the PC versions.

edit:  It doesn't matter if you think console games are better than PC versions...everyone's entitled to their opinions.  The fact is, though, Valve is primarily a PC developer, and as evidenced by the Orange Box, they put out updates and new content much faster on the PC than the consoles.

They've addressed that problem and are releasing the new TF2 content for 360 this year, and plan on keeping regular updates for Left 4 Dead.  I'm sure this won't be as extensive as the PC updates though...on Steam they can fix a bug overnight, on 360 they need to go through tons of loops and a 2 week process...if someone's hacking they might not be able to stop it for a month.

And there's user-created maps.  Ooooh the user-created maps.  Want to play a shopping mall level in Left 4 Dead?  Well one future Left 4 Dead buyer has already made the map, and it is sweet.  Once the game comes out he'll fine tune it and we'll have one bitchin level to play on.  And console players simply won't see that map unless Valve decides to release it in a community map pack, which they don't do often.
