Forums - Nintendo - Wario Land: Shake It! - Reviews

I have this game and if you like other Wario Land games there is no reason you won't like this one.

The game looks and plays beautifully and the controls are simple to learn.

It may not be a long game, but it wasn't meant to be either. What other Wario Land was?

The music may be a little weird and out of place, but hey, that's Wario Land!

I love this game. =D

Sometimes 1UP can give some really crappy scores. 58 for Wario Land?! Bleh. They're the lowest de Blob score right now. I also remember them giving Trauma Center: New Blood a ridiculous score of 40.

a C+ from one up is a 58? Really? Was it Gamrankings or Metacritic that put that retarded score on the grade?

1UP, they're behind the magazine EGM, correct? If so. I'll comment on my thoughts on them. I like the magazine and think their website is good but I notice they seem to have a bias against the Wii, not specifically Nintendo. It seems they don't care for the play control of the Wii and the graphic capabilities. They don't nearly as often review the Wii version of a game despite the fact it will obviously be the most different. Their comments on the Wii or many of the games is overly negative.

And Sean Baby or whatever stupid name he uses is an absolute ass clown. I remember when the Wii was first shown and the controller and nunchuk and most everyone in the industry had postive things to say but all he did was rip it during an appearance on G4.

I'll come up with something better eventually...

I find that 1up tends to have extreme high or low scores, nowhere inbetween. If a game is deserving of a 70 or something, BAM A+, If a game is worthy of an 85, F.

Gamerankings says 1UP gave it a 70.

This is a great game.

Reallly? Didn't they gave Boom Blox a 10?  (A+)

I thought they were a good site, it's weird they gave Wario that score.

I don't like it but that does have an effect on the reviewers that stick to 6-10 instead of 1-10 though. Go to RottenTomatoes.com to see movies coming out all the time getting lower than 20%, because it collects so many reviews on either fresh or rotten, no in between. It gives a much better idea of the quality of a movie than videogame reviews do for games...is a 7.5 good? mediocre? awful? It can mean any one of these things sometimes.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

MetaCritic has issues with letter scoring for some reason.

For example, 1up gave de Blob a B. Based on 1up's scoring, this would be seen as an 85, and yet it was interpreted as a 75. That's the only reason why I go with GameRankings at the moment.
