This has been going on since the late 90s when OOT came out, and back then the lead role was pretty much decided as Leo DiCaprio. Now he's too old for the job. I would just do it with the entire cast of Cheers. if you don't know what Cheers is, then you're pretty young and should be in bed right now ;)

link has no character, and if they did add character to him fanboys would say they changed link

The only truth is that the charachter is used trancendantly from game to game.
but he does have charachter, and there is story development through the tales. It is a LEGEND story design, so through the games the story has a certain elasticity to it.
The charachter of Link is a shy young boy of no real significance who's fate is intertwined withdefeating an evil force to save a princess of his present kingdom. That may be a bit routine yes, but absent, I should say not.

videogame movies suck, why risk it with such great material. I say wait till MGS is done and then decide if ruining another game franchise is a good option.

You cast an unkown for Link, always cast unkowns when casting someone based on sourcematerial
I thought The Legend of Zelda movie trailer that IGN did for an April fools joke looked pretty damn good. =D
