Forums - Sales - Does anyone still believe PS3 will win the console war?

Anything is possible I guess...but the Wii's lead has gotten way too overwhelming. BTW people like myself have been saying that the Wii is not in battle with PS3 before it even came out (I wasn't even doing it because I thought it would beat out PS3 sales - no one did). I guess it could depend on how fast Blu Ray is adopted and if a slim line PS3 comes a lot earlier in the life cycle.

The Wii is not in competition with the PS3 or the 360 and is definitely not a 7th generation console.

Yes, the PS3 has a very good chance at winning the console war.

Hahahahahahahahahahah *- wipes tear from my eyes*

Seriously look at what you wrote, really look at it.......

Now don't you feel a little pathetic for convincing your self to this twisted logic?

it is a little sad isn it?

Its only a game console, if it comes last or first, it really does not effect you to the point you should decieve your self like this, relax and take your time my friend

LOL

I thought Sony wants to win two wars. Console war and media format wars. So far it does not look like winning either war. Console wars: Wii is more than doubling PS3 in console sales. 32.55 million Wii's sold compared to only 15.58 million PS3's.(Source:VGChartz main page) PS3 was launched two weeks ahead of Wii and coming off the success of PS2 that had sold over 120 million consoles by the time PS3 was launched. PS3 has a battle to overtake the 360 in console sales and it will take until late 2009 or early 2010 when PS3 catches up to X360 in worldwide sales.

PS3 Vs X360 head to head have sold the same amount of consoles in 22 months. X360 started 50 weeks ahead of PS3 with a 5.3 million lead. Currently the 5.3 million lead is still in favour of X360.

In regards to media format wars DVD's have been out for 10 years compared to Blu-Rays 2 years since PS3 was launched around the same time as stand alone Blu-Ray players back in 2006. DVDs are smashing Blu-Ray sales.

PS3 will finish second in the console war but at what cost?

The real question I think is who will win the next generation's war?

the PS3 will be #2 this generation

basically

Wii
PS3
360

but if you include PC into the mix

PC
Wii
PS3
360

Yes... We recognize the fact that PC gaming is a viable alternative to console gaming and that its library is essentially a rough clone of the 360 and PS3's and then some, but comparing the PC to console gaming is the same as comparing the PC to the ipod and Zune, just because they can all do the same thing does not mean PC can be included as a factor for consideration in a discussion regarding portable mp3 players.

Hell, why not include Cellphones in the equation, they play games too and just like the PC, everyone has one of those too inspite of gaming, so I guess by default that should be added to list too.

1. PC
2. Wii
3. PS3
4. 360

1. Cellphone
2. DS
3. PSP

In case you never received the memo, here it is.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

Okay if I accept the Wii as 7th gen console, will you please post a list of its technical stats compared to the PS3 and 360?

My most anticipated games:  Whatever Hideo Kojima is going to do next, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Gran Turismo 5, Alan Wake, Wii Sports Resort.  Cave Story Wiiware.

Wii:  Sophisticated motion controls, entirely new games, new genres, new ideas

PS360:  updated graphics for existing series

I think you need to convince us PS3 and 360 are 7th gen

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)
PC: 10^9
Wii: 10^8
