Forums - Website Topics - Errors in data in this website

There are problems with the data in this website.  For example, if you go to wordwide console sales and look at the table, the PS2 has sold 118 million, which looks about right.  But if you graph the PS2 data, the maximum is shown as only about 66 million.

The data in the plots and the data in the tables don't always agree.  PS3 sales numbers have a similar problem.

I think this may be a result of the graph scaling down and cutting off results higher up. If this is the case it is probably to keep the other consoles from barely appearing as a blip compared to the length and height of the PS2 graph.

Yup. There are some errors on this site. That is why there is a big BETA logo right next to the name. If you would ioi to work harder than he already does, feel free to make a donation.

Graph total other for the PS2 the error should be rather apparent from what you get. Your missing about 45 million out of the total and I believe the graphs need to be updated in a few other areas but as DonWii said its still in beta.

Data for Others only includes DS, Wii, PS3, PSP, & 360.  Notice how it only goes back to late 2004?  It makes sense

Well said, The Source.

I don't really understand what The Source is saying. If the PS2 data is plotted, it starts at "0" in March 2000 and ends at "66 mil" in June 2007. I'm not sure how "late 2004" factors into this.

I think it's just an error that will probably be worked out.

Others data (eg. not america or japan) is not logged for anything but current gen consoles, thus the totals for old gens is much lower than WW should be.

Europe is not being plotted for anything before the DS Nick.

Sounds like the answer is, for right now only current gen charts are accurate. Nature of the beast when dealing with a Beta program, and gathering some of those older numbers can be very very difficulty I imagine.
